2002 Trans Am Coupe To Ram?
I am new to the Trans Am world and just bought a 2002 T/A Coupe. I like the look of the Ram Air version but could not find one available so I settled. Is it possible to take the standard coupe and convert it to Ram Air, to a.) give me the additional horsepower and b.) get me the look without falsely advertising by just buying the Ram Air hood?
Any advice would be great and please pardon my ignorance. Thanks Mike |

hey man... i'm not completely sure about it, but i think you would be able to do the conversion, actually, while i was looking for a new hood for my bird i remember coming across a kit meant to do exactly what your looking for... it came with the hood and all, at around $1000 or so... i dont remember the site but i'll try to track it down for you again... i'm sure if you look around a bit you could find it

Re: 2002 Trans Am Coupe To Ram?
All you have to do is get the hood...and the box ram air box then, bam ram air...most guys just go with aftermarket ram air though....cheaper and just as effective....unless you want to sped all that money on the hood.

actually man it can be easily done with just the swap of the hood...the air box on the ram air system is better becasue it allows more air flow, however, u can allow that amount of air flow with the air box thats on the TA coupe already. i have a 98 TA coupe and i found on a website how u can cut the plastic on the box to open it up more allowing the air flow to increase. and also theres another site ill give you that sells ram air hoods...
http://www.ramairhood.com/store/detail.aspx?ID=23 thats the site that sells the ram air systems...seems pricey but actually not a bad deal compared to buying a TA with ram air already. sorry i can't find the site that tells about the cutting of the stock air box but you should def look it up i did it to mine and i think it did the trick...now i just need the cash to buy the hood : ) |

Re: 2002 Trans Am Coupe To Ram?
also i forgot to mention if ur gonna buy the box...u may as well spend about an extra 40$ to get a custom one made by SLP...they say it adds 22 horse over stock ram air box (no way in hell) but it must be somewhat better

That's exactly what I was looking for. Some of my buddies were telling me it's not worth it, but the savings between the coupe/ram air stock or doing the mod is well worth it... the site is great. Thanks again |

christ. i wish i had magical filters that added 22 horsepower. i think they mean 2.2hp? eh. ram air hoods aren't that hard to find. visit your local motorsports and ask them about puttin' one on.
