sup everyone.. i got this thing where when i engage my gear into reverse it makes this big grinding noise that freakz the heck out of me.. i was wondering if this is normal or is it something telling me it should get checked out... oh and it only happens sometimes not all the time

hmm... my tranny grinds a bit too when i put it in reverse. usually if i just startup and go, if its cold out, or if it feels like it. but not very often.

This is normal with alot of cars. You should let the car warm up a bit. Try putting it in 1st before you put it in reverse...sometimes this helps. You could also be developing clutch problems. Did it just start doing it?

Push in clutch, then go to 1st, 2nd then reverse. If it doesnt go in smoothly, repeat until it does.

sometimes when it's cold, i can't even move the lever over and down to reverse... so i usually have to go to first then 2nd then i try it and usually works 1st or 2nd time

thankz for the tipz it really workz... i always let my engine warm up b4 i leave... i live it texas so warming up a car is a jippy.. butta other than that ima go get it checked out

i'm using neuspeed race springs and tokico illumina 5way adjustable shocks

work great so far. no problems and the ride is great compared to a few lowered cars i've been in where you hit the cieling with every bump.

with mine, you notice bumps more of course because its stiff, but its not outragous and its really not bad at all. only thing is i scraped my front bumper a bit on really extreme angled driveways. gotta learn the technique of going up most driveways with one wheel at a time or avoid some completely.

nah itz all koo dude.. i was thinking of droppin my car too but the thing is what to use what setup and so on...i plan drop my car in a couple of months.. just want to invest in the right equipment u kno what i'm say?

yea. i love my setup and i get a lot of comments about how low it is. i love when girls get in my car because they practically fall in because they dont always know how to get in it right. hell, i had trouble myself when i first lowered it. i'd always slam my foot on the ground when i got out expecting more space before the ground lol.

my friend has neuspeed coilovers and his car looks really good too. dunno bout ride quality or handling though.

also, my neuspeed upper front strut bar and lower rear tie bar seemed to make a difference when i corner. i get ZERO wheel screech when taking corners. i've hit some serious curves at 70-80mph that most cars would flip over and lose tires and shit... heh

Just wanted to change the convo again and give you an answer. Reverse gear doesn't have a syncro. Sometimes because the gears aren't lined up properly, it either grinds or doesn't go in at all. 4th gear tho DOES have a syncro and is very close to reverse physically. If you drop it into 4th gear before you drop into reverse, you shouldn't have problems at all.
