Unhappy 97 GEO Metro wont run ( HELP )

My GEO stoped running for me while i was driving down the road. I pulled it home and started working on it. I have fuel and preassure to the injector, I have spark and I have compresion. If I spray starting fluid into the throtle body the engine will run.I have hot wired the injector and it does spray fuel till it is out of fuel preasure so i figure that the injector is in working order. I have checked all the fuses and the relays, the injector resistor and replaced the crankshaft postiton sensor. I think that the cam sensor is fine because the thing runs with starting fluid, I assume that the ignition modual is good for the same reason.Maybe my ECM went bad ????????
Can anyone help me ?( PLEASE )
Thanks

i would say that if the plugs fire that the ecm is good. metros are notorious for being very sensitive to a worn timing belt. the belt can appear to not be worn, but if it has streatched longer and ofsets the cam by as little as 3 degrees, then the engine will not start, but the starting fluid has more power than regular gasoline fuel and will run the engine. try changing the belt. a hint on that.... unless you want to pull the engine, you will have to make a slit in the bottom of the timing cover with a razor knife so that you can pull it off and see the timing marks. the timing marks are 4 spurs sticking out of the crankshaft behind the main pulley and then a mark on the cam sprocket will line up with a grove on the valve cover.

Thanks,but I am still lost

I have about 27 lbs. of fuel preasure and when i hot wire the injector to the battery with a fuse and a switch i can flip the switch on and off very quickly and the injector sprays fuel and the ingine will run for me ( allthough no very well ).
I put a new timing belt on about 12k miles ago when i rebuilt the engine.
There is a small unit atatched with two screws to the fire wall to the right of the coil as you are looking at the coil, it says POWER UNIT. I can not find this in my manual. What is it for, and could this thing be my problem?

Thanks

The power unit controls the signal between the ECU and the ignition coil. Keeping it a safe voltage for the ECU to control the ignition. If you get spark, the firing unit(power unit) is fine.

Re: 97 GEO Metro wont run ( HELP )

Ok, never having had any ignition grief with these things.. ( other than being retarded and thats me, not the ignition ) Do not rule out the ign module. On the vast majority of FI engines, the injector pulse is controlled by a reference voltage from the ign module. This tell the ecm when to pulse the injector. So, this could be your problem. you can still have spark enough to set you on your butt, but no actual fuel delivery. Check it out
