Wow, that honestly is a tough choice. I think alot of it would be personal preference. But I THINK the SRT-4 would be .2 or so quicker in the 1/4. If the GT were a 5spd. I'd say pretty much even.

Matt
I just looked up the specs on both and Matts50 is pretty much right on with his guess. Stock for stock though!

Why do you say that? Its all driver.

MachShockSRT4, Send me a PM. Ive lost the password to my email so no use for that. Oh and my car is an automatic, which is answering specifically what you asked.

Ill make sure to have someone get it on video, but getting the guy to upload it to the net is another thing.

Honestly i think it's probably going to be the SRT-4. The 04 model is quicker than the 03's were. It's also got the LSD on it with this model. 60 times are 5.5 and 1/4 in 13.9 with a fairly decent driver. You're looking at around 220-225whp with the 04's. If the GT were a 5-speed, it would be much closer, but since it's the auto, i'm sorry, looks like the stang is going to fall prey to the snakebite.

Re: Honeslty Guys! SRT-4 - Mustang GT

I agree--SRT-4s are nasty. Although they look like small bugs that a mustang should squash. The 03's were significantly underrated, and that problem has supposedly been fixed in the hp and tq ratings in 04. I think even a manual GT would have a rough time keeping up with an SRT-4. Just get your power to the ground, my friend, because I guarantee you that unless he is an amazing driver he will be losing traction off the line. And get NOS--two of the BIG ones. And Harry; I need them by tonight. lol

Not even. I would suggest mustang with a real driver. Did you even look at all that torque? Or are you just riceys for "HP"? FWD cant outrun RWD. It just can't, not efficient power delivery to the wheels.

Re: Honeslty Guys! SRT-4 - Mustang GT

srt-4 definitely not a rice car. these things are crankin out around 250 ft/lbs of torque vs. the stang gt's 300ft/lb i believe, with a rather light car. the srt-4's are also putting out 230 horses, only 30 short of the stangs, and many people are saying the 230 is underrated. what it would all come down to is who gets the power to the ground. if you got two equally good drivers, and only taking their best times of the day, the srt-4 would top out the stang gt in the 1/4(sorry but its true). it would be a close race.

Re: Honeslty Guys! SRT-4 - Mustang GT

The above is probably one of the most ignorant things I have ever heard on AF: FWD can't outrun RWD? Are you kidding me? I mean, few people dispute the fact that RWD is the best racing drivetrain (except a few AWD people) but that is FAR from meaning that RWD can't be beaten by FWD. I could find you about 100 videos right now of mustangs alone being beaten by FWD imports. This is not to say that FWD imports are faster than stangs, but that it is POSSIBLE that a FWD can outrun a RWD, and it happens quite often. And here, we are talking abou a RWD AUTOMATIC against a FWD manual.

1) 02 Mustang GT: 3241 lbs., 260 hp, 302 ft.lbs tq.
2) 04 SRT-4: 2900 lbs., 230 hp, 250 ft.lbs tq.

Does the 'stang have more hp? Yes. More torque? Definitely.

But is 30 hp enough to make up for 350 lbs. of weight difference? Definitely not in an automatic. Sorry man...

Re: Honeslty Guys! SRT-4 - Mustang GT

I'm retty sure that the Stang will lose, sorry guys, that's just the way it is. I've raced 2 of them, one older, one newer(more power). They kept up with me. I only won by 1-2 carlengths. They do awesome launches because they have around 245 ft-lbs in a tiny light car.
