92' Lumnia APV Minivan Trans Troubles
Hey hows it going, im new to the board, i found you guys/girls while searching google for trans helps. My minivan is having some troubles. It started about 2-3 weeks ago, out of no where i was driving and the van started to studder, but for only a few seconds and then everything was fine. I came to a red light a few minutes later and the car stalled really hard. It was almost like you let the clutch out on an manual trans without giving it enough gas. So immediatly i thought it was the torque converter. So luckily i was able to push it into a near by gas station and i checked the fluid and it seemed like i needed some, so i filled it up and waited alittle for things to cool down (incuding myself). And everything was fine, i drove home like nothing happened, the trans shifted great and everything. So fast foreward 2 weeks, everything has been fine and the van wasn't acting up. Until today, i was driving and it started to studder again and then it stalled. So i put it in nuetral and everything was fine. Once i put it back in drive the car stalled. So i reved up alittle and dropped it into Drive and was able to get myself to a gas station. The only concern i have is i heard a slight grinding noise while driving. I was able to make it back home with the car wanting to stall every minute. The weird thing though is when i got about a block away from my house, the van was fine. The whole way home the trans felt sluggish and felt like the car wanted to stall. As soon i got near my house it felt fine and even when i was parking (using drive and reverse) it was like nothing was wrong. Any ideas what could be the problem? Also for the past 2 years i have a weird thing when i go from reverse to forward i hear something moving, like a peice of metal locking in place. Any ideas what the could be as well?
Im hoping that the trans will hold up for just a few more days or so, i have some important things comming up where i need to move some equipment. so if anyone could give some suggetsions that would be great. I was contemplating, flushing the trans and putting a new filter in it. Car Specs: 92' Chevy Lumina Minivan APV 3.1L V6 Motor 150K miles never had the trans rebuilt or flushed. Owned it since it was brand new. Thanks, Chris |

Re: 92' Lumnia APV Minivan Trans Troubles
Remove the connector (probably blue) from the front of the tranny - driver's side toward radiator. That's your TCC and, though it helps with your mileage, can be disabled. Sounds like it's getting stuck!
