Cool sound from the breaks? on 2001 Civic

About two weeks ago I replaced the front break pads on my 2001 Civic LX. Today I noticed a very annoying (sound like it’s coming from the front) howling sound. It starts on the very low speeds ~5-8 mph, most often after vehicle came to a complete stop, then it disappears once I get going 15mph and faster. I’ve tried using just parking break, when I hear the sound, once it worked (sound disappeared) the other time it did not…
I did not turn the rotors when replaced the pads but at 31k, figured it’s not 100% necessity… Any ideas what it could be?

Thanks,

Nmikmik

It's probably because you didn't resurface your rotors. Break pads score the rotors, but all pads don't score them in the same pattern. So what's happening is the new pads are making noise because they don't have a completely flat surface to clamp down on.

me too

Hey,

I got the seme stuff, not the best, not the worst. What brand did you get last, that worked? & did you have to replace the front break hardware? i just cleaned mine, may be that is a problem withthe different type of pads?...

Thanks,

nmikmik
