Unhappy my Jerking/Bucking Neon

Good'day,

My 96 Neon thinks it's a rodeo horse...

I've had the car about a year. Runs fine, idles fine... however, it has always "bucked" a little doing about 70-80 kph. Accellerating a little more/a little less usually takes care of the problem. I could always drive in the city (<60kph), or on highway (>100 kph) without a problem and since most of my driving is highway, it didn't cause much of a problem.

However, yesterday, on the highway, it really started to buck really bad on doing about 120kph... (I'm sure if you were passing me, you would have seen the car jerking (and laugh at me)). I slowed to 100kph and it seemed to behave, but trying to accelerate even a little bit more and the problem started again. Needless to say, I deceded to get off the highway and "take the long way to work".

note: Check Engine light came one once last year: said EGR valve was bad. I ignored it and the light hasn't been on since (even after yesterday's episode). Could a bad EGR valve do that? I have changed the plugs.

Any guesses?

Re: my Jerking/Bucking Neon

i had the same problem with a 2000 mustang. turned out to be bad plugs. the porcelain(spelling?) was cracked. i had the same problem with a beretta and it turned out to be a crack in the rubber/insulation of a couple wires. i didn't get a check engine light or a code in either of these situations. for both all i had to do was give it a little gas or let off a little
