Prelude VS. Saturn

I have been challenged to a street race by this pud who owns a a 94 Saturn 4dr SL with a manual trans. It is basicly bone stock. He has an aftermarket muffler and Chrome wipers for cutting through the air. I have an 88 si Prelude that has some performance mods. I have the intake, DC exhaust , Toucan muffler, and chip. He suggested the winner gets the losers wheels. I told him lets do it " I charge admission to look at my tail lights". This dude is a real jerk. I would like nothing more than rolling up next to him with his wheels on my car. His wheels are wack but I would roll them just to piss him off. Im no pro but I do have good driving skills. Do you think the Saturn has a chance? I say no

are you racing straightaway or will there be some curves?

anyways, your car weighs about 250lbs more than his. but you've got a little more hp and torque. quarter mile calculator says he will win, but those aren't accurate.

your weight 2639lbs, his weight 2314lbs
you reach peak torque at 4k, and he reaches it at 4.8k
you reach peak hp at 6.2k, and he reaches it at 5.6k

domestics can't rev as high. did you get headers too?

Re: Prelude VS. Saturn

when you go to race, have your tank on empty. pour 2 bottles of octane booster in, and like half a gallon of gas. you will be quicker than usual. just pray you don't screw an injector.

I'd only put my title on the line if I knew it would be a staggering defeat. On close races, its a gamble, and you'll never know if a misshift will spell your doom. Good luck dude.

Re: Prelude VS. Saturn

Be sure to have as little gas as possible. Take out the spare and jack, anything else you can do without. Good luck brother.

Re: Prelude VS. Saturn

hey.. how wack are his wheels? if they are some 18" chrome ultras that weigh 50lbs each, you got this.

keep your windows closed!

Be careful. Even if it looks bone stock...there may be more than what you think under hoods of cars. Thats why they call them sleepers.

Good luck and post the results of the race.

Thanks for all of the advice. The wheels look like a fake version of Konig Holes without the holes (17" Black). There are no Logos. They are not Konig quality and are very beat up with slim to no tread. I admit that my 17" Primax 920 series wheels are not top of the line but are clean and well worth more than this jerks. I do know the only modifications he has made is the muffler. I put on my body kit on this week to train and prefit it. Do you think this will make a difference? I think he is begining to think it over a little and keeps making excuses to wait. But dont worry. I will trash talk him till he wants to race or take it outside. Either way I win. Normaly Im a nice guy but its hard to deal with jerky like this guy. And he has plenty of stories. This dude hit 147 db with a 10" man hole cover pioneer sub and a califonia baja amp. Oh yea! this dude is dropping some serious base with this quality audio. Thanks again all

Sorry for the false alarm. He decided it wasnt a good idea. I ran into him this morning and he has no balls. That and he was pluging the sidewall of one of his tires when I pulled in to the fill up station. He said even when he replaces the tires hes not down for a race. To bad for me I guess. I really wanted those rims from that jerk. I would have sold them for a dollar after I won just to see the look on his face. Thanks for the input all. Prelude Power!!!
