ford probe 2.2 gt turbo prob

well today i went and looked at my friend dans porge gt 2.2 turbo... Its a project oh man, THe tranny is stuck in 5th i dunno if its the clutch or if its just plain old fucked up. He said that when he got it some kid told him the turbo is lossing compression.. How can i figure out where and how its lossing compression.. I started it today took awhile since its been sitting for a while .. engine ran well but i saw some oil bubbels comming from the cylender cover... other then the 5spd tranny as soon as i get that and put it in i could drive it away... I offered him my whole system including the pioneer DEX-P1r reciver all competition deck msrp was 850 now u can get it used for around 200 but its still really nice

what can i do about the tranny?
