Re: Firewall hole

i have a maxima so it may not work for you, but i ran it under the fender then through the molding on the door, right next to the hinge. i didn't wanna drill into my car. it's been working fine for the last 6 months and there is enough room so that the wires don't get crushed.

Re: Firewall hole

it gets tucked under the plastic kick shield right after it comes around the molding.

there's about an inch of space between the door and the frame when the door is closed. the wire will be fine.

Re: Firewall hole

that is dangerous to do. you never want to run a power wire in any area where there can be constant friction (a door hinge area for instance). after awhile, the constant opening and closing can rub the insulation off the wire and that can cause problems.

as for the altima, i drilled a hole under the power booster by the brake master cyl. I dont have any good upclose shots of it, so i dont really know how to show you

Re: Firewall hole

the wire never comes in contact with the hinge or any other parts. you can't tell from the pictures but the wires fine. i can see why it looks like it'd get caught but up close it's fine. I contemplated how to run it for a good amount of time and weighed my options, i'm happy with how i have it. plus there is a little slack in the picture that isn't there under normal conditions, it usually sits flush in the indentation above where the door hinge is mounted. look where the fender is and just picture the door being closed and the wire running directly behind the molding. i totally disagree that it's unsafe.

and that wire is 8 gauge.
