I recently was able to pick up a del sol for 500 bucks. It is a 93 s and has an automatic trans. My question is what exactly do i need to swap in a b16. If anyone can tell me or give me a link to a site with full instructions on how to do this i would be very happy. Thanks a million in advance.

You'll need del sol vtec shiftlinkage, mounts and axles...also I don't believe the civic si came with an automatic tranny so if you wanna keep the auto tranny you'll have to swap in an auto LS trans. Maybe the del sol vtec did, I don't know.

Re: B16 installation info plz
sols with b16 didn't come in auto.. only the s and si did.. but beware.. the tranny mounts are in different places for an auto and a 5spd... prolly why the car was $500.

It was actually my mothers and she ran into someone. All it did was damage the hood, front bumper and fenders, so i bought it off the insurance company for 500. Do you know which tranny mounts would work for fitting the new transmition on? Can you give me a link to a reliable place that sells them? BTW i do not want an automatic...I need to switch it over. Thx for the info.

Re: B16 installation info plz
your best bet's gonna be to just stay automatic.. seriously. Think of it this way.. a majority of those crazy 1000+ hp cars have auto trannies. What shifts faster, you or a computer? Computer. It'd be cool as hell if you built like a 14-low15 sec auto. bowdowns for sure. And I'm not talking about the mounts on the tranny.. I'm talking about the mounting locations that are a part of the car chassis and are in a fixed location.

Re: B16 installation info plz
If you're hell-bent on swapping in a manual motor, cutting and welding of the transmission mounting points in the engine bay are in order.
I've seen some fast automatic D-series though - automatics aren't all that bad.

As far as i know they dont even make b series automatic transmitions do they? my friend knows how to weld so that should not really be a problem. There has to be someone here who has done this, i doubt it is too uncommon.....anyone?

94+ ls rs gs integras all had options with automatic. a lot of 1000 hp cars that drag have a 3 stage clutch (not stage 3) where you have a lever that you shift into each 'gear' when actually its fusing 3-5 speperate clutches together to create a progressive gear. after each race, they swap trannies. but seriously, a 1000 hp del sol? :P ok i say if you can get the 5 speed. what benefit would you have running an auto in lets say a solo 2? no engine brake, and really fucked up left foot braking. can you imagine your transmission getting confused and switching into a higher gear while left foot braking? 5speed rocks. and buying a sol for 500 rocks too. compared to the money you saved from buying it private, you can get a swap and with a tiny bit extra make it manual. things needed: petal cluster shift linkage tranny (duh) mounts (i didnt think you had to weld anything) ecu axles (correct me if i'm wrong) gauge cluster (not of high priority) a lot of that stuff will come with a swap anyways :P minus shiftlinkage that you need from a del sol vtec manual gets my vote

Re: B16 installation info plz
manual may be more fun, but autos more realistic. Think about the interior things alone. What does a manual have that an auto doesn't? Oh yeah.. a clutch pedal.. so you have to do that, then you have to do the clutch master/slave cylinders... it's literally a nightmare. I know people who started an auto to manual swap a year ago and still aren't finished. You're gonna have to choose. Auto will get your swap done easier and cleaner. Manual you'll need a lot of parts and time. It's gonna turn into a project car for a while, so get ready to not have your sol for the rest of the summer, which is the best time to have one.

The Del Sol transmission mounting point for the automatic sits slightly higher than the mounting point for the manual transmission. You have to cut off the auto mounting point in the engine bay and weld on the correct manual mounting point and then put on the B-series motor mounts. The rest of the mounting points can be left alone I believe.
