'95 P.A. OBD I or II?

I have a '95 Ultra. The OBD port is trapezoid-shaped and is a 16-pin. I've heard that some '95s are hybrids, with an OBD I computer and an OBD II port. Also, if it is OBD I, can the computer be accessed and codes read by simply jumping 2 of the pins?

Thanks.

I have a 95 but not the ultra. it is obd I. there should be a sticker under the hodd that verifies this. the port is indeed an obd II port. I dont know about the jumping of pins to read out codes though. there is nothing in the service manual that tells about doing this. the manual only refers to using the expensive $3000 scan tool.

I have read in another posting that some auto supply places have the computer readers and will scan it for you, (in hopes you will buy something from them). I don't remember which one was mentioned or if it was just one in that area. A little while with the phone might turn up one.

I have a 95 Ultra also. I have had two auto parts store try and read/reset the error codes. Neither were sucessful. I guess I got what I paid for.

I did some looking around, and I found that for the '94s & '95s that have OBD I computers and OBD II (16-pin) ALDLs, you need an OBD I scanner with an OBD II cable, and it costs about $250 or so. Here is the link that tells you what equipment you need based on your computer/ALDL connector setup. http://www.actron.com/cgi-bin/web_st...=5100237_94165

Ya, you can read the codes with that actron scanner but it doesnt do everything. The really nice one allows you to control the system and activate solenoids and air bags (although thats not recommended).

there is a company that sells software which allows you to see waveforms as well as turn your pc into a really nice scanner but the software is a hefty $500. see http://www.easesim.com/products.htm
