got a 94 chevy k1500. cargo lamp brakelight will work but not actual brakelights changed brakelight switch on the brake pedal and still no brakes is there a brake relay or something??? the fuse and bulbs are fine and the wireing harness to the lights seem ok????? anyone got any ideas?

Check your 4 ways and turn signals in the rear. The brake circuit feeds through the turn signal/flasher switch to the rear, but not the high mounted brake lamp. I've encountered some that I have fixed by merely turning the 4 ways on and off several times.
Have you checked the wires/sockets with a test lamp while the brake pedal is depressed? Check the wiring connector where it plugs into the bulb holder. On the left side it will be the yellow wire; on the right side it will be the green wire. If you have power into the bulb socket holder when the brake pedal is depressed, try different bulbs. Bulb appearance can be deceptive. |
