yeah.. odd how things work.. vette must've had more torque? and its 400 lbs lighter, but weight wouldn't have been that much of a factor. I love the sound of superchargers

i thought stangs always had good torque, and i fell as though weight always comes into the equation when racing, from a stop or a roll

ps both of those cars rock my world

Re: Kenne Bell SVT Cobra vs Procharged Z06 video

Actually, the big problem with the Cobra is not the displacement they give up to a Vette IMO even if the plastic fantastic is running a blower. It's that they are damned near impossible to get to hook really good.

Also, I don't think gearing is exactly "optimal" on the Cobra either. It wouldn't surprise me if just putting a Richmond six speed (you can pick your gears in that) and a really well sorted live axle rear end in an 03/04 Cobra together combined to make the car accelerate a hell of a lot faster than it does stock all else untouched. Hopefully, this will be addressed in the newly redesigned 05/future cars.

A live axle rear helps acceleration? I thought live axle was mostly favored for the launch...

And to add to Self's comment about the z06 having more displacement, the z06 runs a 10.5:1 compression ratio while the 03 Cobra only has an 8.5:1 compression ratio.

Re: Kenne Bell SVT Cobra vs Procharged Z06 video

It wouldn't help it that much, a live axle is just better for using slicks (a good one mind you).

I like how the vette guy or the passenger kept saying "See ya" even though it was damn close.

If the Mustang ran 10.5:1 compression with the s/c, the engine wouldn't last too long!

I said what I said in reference to someone mentioning 19lbs of boost vs. 8 lbs of boost.

Well, if the live axle helps you stick your launch and lowers your 60 foot time that is going top improve acceleration. Acceleration is simply the time it takes you to get from one speed (in this case 0mph) to another (pick a mph). If a well sorted live axle helps minimize wheelspin then it most likely helps acceleration.

And, to answer DeVils comment. If you were comparing an optimally designed IRS to an optimally designed live axle that statment might be more accurate. However, every design is not optimum and the Cobra's IRS far from it.

Essentially, Ford shoved an IRS in a space never intended for anything but a live axle and it shows. Design and geometry have both been compromised and that absolutely makes a difference in function. Including maximizing traction.

You can improve the Cobra's IRS substantially with aftermarket pieces. But, you will be hard pressed to ever sort it out fully. I would love to have a Cobra. But, if I did and wanted to keep an IRS (which I would), then I would likely switch to a MN12 based IRS out of a 90's T-Bird/Cougar. They fit with some modification and should work much better in every respect.

10-4 buddy. I didnt see that part, lol. With the right internals 10.5:1 could be done though!
