Seatbelt chime wont STFU!!!!

I've got a 1991 Civic EX. At totally random times, the seatbelt chime will go off continuosly. I've tried various combinations of buckling/unbuckling the automatic shoulder belts, opening doors etc. Any ideas on how to silence the thing? The civic is my daily driver and I feel I'm slowly going insane.

Thanks,
Jack

Check to make sure that the plug under the seat that connects to the seat-belt sensor is properly connected and the connector leads are clean.

Also, up under your dash, on the passenger-side of the center console, if you look up under there, there is a metal box with a long connector going into it. Check to make sure that this connector is plugged in all the way and the connections are clean.

If neither of these fix your problem, you can try taking it to a dealership, or just unplug the long connector from the metal box wich will completely disable the seat-belt reminder system.

I had the same problem, and I did in fact eliminate the problem by punching that damn box on the rear view mirror. The cover broke off, and I unplugged whatever connector was in there, and there was no more chiming. It got a little bloody, but it was worth it.
