Horsepower gains?
Wondering if anyone has a guess about how much horsepower I will gain?
I have an original 327 rebuilt to factory specs 10,000 miles ago. Suppose to put out 210 HP. with a 2 barrel carb. I want to add the following: EDL-1400 ELECTRIC W/EGR 600 CFM... $265.95 EDL-2102 Chevrolet: 283-400, 278 intake/288 exhaust duration, Performer-Plus, hydraulic, cam and lifter kit... $117.88 EDL-2601 Chevrolet: 262-400, dual plane, cast aluminum, Performer Air Gap, intake manifold... $199.95 HOK-2451 GM: 1964-89 265-400 car, black painted, Competition headers (See Product Guide)... $149.88 MAA-8548201C Chevrolet: 265-502, adjustable advance, OE factory-type harness, with high output coil, HEI distribu... $159.88 What do you think. I am a newbie but think I learn fast. I am not looking to race, just go fast when I want and to sound good. Thanks for your help. Bob

Re: Horsepower gains?
well, without doing any number crunching, or running a simulation, and not knowing any specifics, i would estimate that youd get around 300hp out of that. maybe a bit more.

Re: Horsepower gains?
wow. I know you do not have specifics, but I thought I would get more than that for $1000.00.
Thanks, Bob

Re: Horsepower gains?
well, gotta remember, the big cork in that system will be the old heads, which suffer bad port design by todays standards, and horrible cast piston design. those are big limiting standards, also if you do plan on upping the power to around 400, youll need aftermarket forged pistons, the cast ones will bite it hard, and grenaid the engine at just about anything more than that. the ammount spent dosnt really make power, its where you spend the money, i think so far your on the right track, most of that power from 210 to 300+ will be in the cam and headers. some make more than others. i would invest in some quality pistons, and then a set of good heads, the right heads will really wake up the engine and set you up with probly close to 400hp with all the other mods. I have yet to see a street/strip smallblock 350 with vortec heads make less than 390hp. most over 400hp. a set of ported and polished vortec heads (062 castings, not 908 castings), comp cams xtream energy cam, your carb and intake, matched with those headers, and a set of pistons that will take the beating, youll be seeing 380-420hp easy.

Re: Horsepower gains?
Thanks for all your help. I was actually looking for about 330hp - 350hp. I have a powerglide and I do not think it can handle much more than that without beefing it up also.
