Drivers seat and steering wheel problems!!!

I have a 1997 740 I with comfort seats, the power seat and steering wheel do not always work. I am assuming that this is some kind of lockout for safety. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

I had that problem with my 2000 IL. I had acidently braced my hand on the plastic seat control box getting into the vehicle and snapped it loose.
From that point on my seat or steering wheel would not move. BMW fixed it surprisingly for under $200. When the piece snapped loose, I must have disconected or shorted out the circut. Jim

If the plug on the seat control comes loose the steering wheel or the seat won't move. Take the seat panel off and check to make sure the plugs are connected. That fixed my problem.
