2004 lancer speedometer

how do i disconnect the speedo on the 2004 lancer,i`ve a european model but it`d be the same layout as the u.s version.
can anyone give me steps to doing it
will it show up when i leave the car to be serviced?
if reconnected will the clock read zero or 88888888 etc as its digital
