More power please!

Just got a 95 Tahoe - happy except for no vortec!

Any suggestions - what will make me smile, what won't?

Considering adding headers and a high-flow muffler to my single 3" system (no cat)

Also wondering about the TBI spacers everyone talks about...

Really appreciate any thoughts/experiences

Thanks

Go to exhuast and listen. They have a 96 Tahoe with headers and rest. Sounds tight!

Cool 95's are Dogs.

Sorry, just telling it like it is.

The difference between the performance of the 95 and the 96 is significant to say the least. That is the bad news.

The good news. I just saved a lot of money by switching to Geico.

You will have to spend some money to bring your 95 up to speed. A supercharger might be the best bang for the buck. I prefer Vortec heads and an aftermarket manifold with a Hi flow Air Filter and Muffler and Cat for good measure.

Or you could just trade for a 96 and be cool like me. If all else fails to relieve your belly ache put the lime in the coconut and drink the bowl up. Put the lime in the coconut and call me in the morning.

OK, thanks. Not going to trade, and not concerned enough to bolt on $4k worth of s/c.

I drove a 96 maybe two days ago, felt more responsive everywhere in the power band, I know you can't duplicate that easily. With WOT, though, I don't know, a little better, but not crazy (or am I crazy)

Anyway, I have been really close to getting the mid-length headers and a mandrel "Y". My cats already gone, so 2-3/4 or 3" back w/ a highflow. Worth the $$?? is my question. Will I feel pushed back in the seat any harder?

Also, feeling not unlike a fellow ordering a rotary cooker off late-night TV, I picked up a power tower TBI spacer the other day. Any experience with that on a 5.7 TBI - anyone?

Thanks - really wishing I would have known about the 'vortex' thing - There was a beaut '96 I was looking at with less kms and only 3K more... oh, well.

Cool Gadgets and Gimmics

It has been my experience that most little doodads promising to add a significant performance boost are the stuff dreams are made of. 20 bucks for this and 20 bucks for that soon adds up to should have went ahead and got something that really makes a difference. Buyer Beware. Let your Tahoe breathe as best you can afford. That will be more than most other owners of 95 Tahoes have done.
