Re: Fourth Mod ?

What exactly does the hondata do? Is it anything like an Apex'i AFC?

It is a piggy back system that allows you to reprogram your fuel and ignition tables, it also lets you do alot more than that, and it is better than an Vafc or a safc. Go to www.hondata.com and read about it.

you wont see crap with a ported and polished intake manifold unless you are flowing a lot more air into the engine than stock.

Re: Fourth Mod ?

i was reading up on the hondata in the march 04 import tuner and it seems like the problem i'll run in too with that other than cost is the actual programming and its sounds like its really hard...is it this hard and does anyone advise a DIY type thing on this project..if not is there anywhere that i can buy a programmed hondata ?

Re: Fourth Mod ?

No there is no DIY for either the hondata or vafc because you need a wide band and a dyno to tune either one. And no you cannot buy an already tuned hondata b/c every motor, even the same series like 2 B18C1's are going to need to different maps.

Re: Fourth Mod ?

Well you don't have to have a dyno, it does help though. But you will need a wide band O2 for sure.

Yes you do, or else you won't be able to see where your powerband is, or if you actually made power at all, and therefor have no way to tune it. Buttdynos are teh ghey.

well, you can tune it to run SAFELY, just with a wideband o2 sensor.

but sometimes its ok to run a little rich to gain some more power in certain areas.

i would go with a short throw shifter if i were you. or a set of wheels possibly.

Re: Fourth Mod ?

Tuning implicates you're going to gain performance, not just run the VAFC. If you don't use a dyno you ca NOT tune it for performance, since you will have NO baseline to compare to.
