The B16 is finally mine, almost...
Okay, I finally got enough stashed away, and found a great deal on the B16. It's from a stock 2000 civic si, and only has 7000 miles on it (yes, that's the correct mileage). It was pulled from the car in order to perform a swap. It comes with all of the essentials; engine, tranny, ecu, axle, harness. Oh, and I already bought the Hasport mounts, so there's no worry.
My question is this; in my 98 ex coupe, will the provided axles, and assuming they give up the linkage with the tranny, I shouldn't need any additional extenders, or converters... will I? Also, since I'm already wired for vtec, I don't need to worry about additional harnesses that the one that it's coming with, do I? Reason I ask is I've only got a little bit extra left after the engine, and I' don't want to have to suddenly spend a grip more on the small stuff that adds up fast. Additional swap advice is welcome too. I'm planning on doing it with my friends in their Uncle's garage, so any and all tools will be available. Oops, forgot, it's also gonna get a compression test when I go to pick it up. What consistency (or inconsistencies), should I keep an eye out for? Numbers, ranges from stock, what stock is (if it's not the 10.1 I've always read), and differences between cylinders. Thanks all!!!

You should be alright there as long as you get the shift linkage. And yah, you won't have to worry about any harnesses or anything. As for the compression test. I don't know what numbers to look for, but i've been told that aslong as the numbers are consistent across all 4 cylinders you should be alright there.

yeah for the compression as long as there isn't a 10% or more variation between each cylinder then you should be fine.

consistant is good, just look for unusually low #s. i'm not sure about hondas but i know that the SR20DET's normal compression is 210 210 210 210. but its turbo so maybie the honda should be a lot higher? at any rate just look for consistant #s.

AWWWW!!! man... you should get my B16A2!!! darn it...
but the way...is it a B16A1 or B16A2?? i know one use cable tranny and the other use hydralic tranny... the one i bought my brother B16A2 is hydralic tranny...MY STUPID BROTHER IS A PUNK..SHOULDA MAKE UP HIS STUPID MIND BEFORE ASKING ME TO BUY IT!!!! AWWW!!!
