Torque Steering: 2001 Jetta
I recently purchased my first VW. A 2001 Jetta. The car has a strong "pull" to the left when I hit the gas. I am told this is common on front wheel drive cars and is something that I have to live with.. Are others experiencing this same feel with their Jetta??
I have not had anyone to look at this problem yet. The shop that works on my car seems to think that I just need to fully understand the effects of torque steering.. Comments, Please... |

Re: Torque Steering: 2001 Jetta
Can you tell if it was ever in an accident? There is some torque steer on a hard take-off, particulaly if the steering wheel is turned. It shouldn't be described as strong though. I'd have someone look at the lower control arms & bushings.

Re: Torque Steering: 2001 Jetta
what engine 1.8t? If so torque steer is prevelant even at stock settings. No way around it, side effect of using the same wheels to propel as well as steer.
