Automatic Shifter

Anybody know of an automatic shifter with overdrive imported from Japan for the Primera? Stillen has got something to do with it - Steve either makes it, or import its. I know they have one for the Fairlady, and it looks WICKED!!!

Yup, I know the two the RAZO make, and I couldn't agree with you more. Those shifters are just BIG, and not very aesthetically pleasing!!!

yah, ive seen that one used by someone from this bbs.

the stock shifter use to bother me because its not solid, but after considering the height of the handrest on my p11 (center) other shifters might be too short. if its height adjustable that would be great..

so, i just kept mine stock and... actually I learned to like it.

damn snow outside today, tomorrow, the day after here in chi-town...well, at least we have white xmas here.

Yup, that's the shifter all right, wickedg20. I guess I shouldn't really call it ugly......

but it just don't appeal to me. Just too big for my liking, actually.

The shifter for the Fairlady that I'm speaking about....I'm trying hard to remember where I saw it. Logic tells me that it probably came from the 2001 Stillen catalog......anybody who's got the catalog on hard, please check it out and let me know.

I'm thinking that if it is made for the Fairlady, there may be one for the Primera....maybe even the same one!!! That would be sweet!

Theres one bad thing about the auto shifters on P11's. If you look at the stocker there are two parts. A block thingie and the shifter on top. So if you get and auto shifter, your still going to have that block thingie on the bottom.

That;s the one I was thinking of. it may not look bad in the package, but when you put it on, the thing is huge... Huge and shiny. I've seen it on a P10 and trust me, its not pretty.

yeah, exactly what I was thinking. it doesn't look so bad in the package, but I guess it looks huge in the car. but you could always paint over the chrome part.

anyways, that is the only one I've seen w/ OD. if anyone else finds one, I'm down to buy 1 with them.

you are right

but thats one of the reason's I want to change my stock shifter. That block thingy kills the looks of the shifter. If it was round, it would be ok, but square?!?

also have two more questions.

Would you have to get an AT shifter with OD button??? If you get one without OD feature, than I reckon the OD will always stay on?

also, I believe the OD button on the Razo shift knob pictured above is somewhere else than where it is on the stock shifter. is that a problem???

I replaced my stock p10 auto shifter for awhile, and the location of the OD button on the new shifter does not have the same, it is a matter of splicing the OD wires onto the new OD button. In the one that I had the OD button was on top. It was a RAZO shifter by the way, and I started an old thread a loooong time ago about it, documenting how i replaced it and the problem that I had and why i went back to stock.

you don't have to reconnect the OD wires if you don't want to, but like you said, if you don't, you're overdrive will always be on or off. THe overdrive is two wires leadingto that OD switch. I think if you slice them together, it turns the overdrive off, if you keep them seperated, it turns the overdrive on. Or vice versa.

Any of you ever tried modifying a manual shifter to an automatic shifter? Even one with O/D? Some of the Momo shifters are pretty sturdy, and could probably take the mod.

Lemme know.

you can take a manual shifter, and silicone it, or glue it, tot he top (the moving part) of the shifter (the part that goes down) then, when you want to shift, you just push the whole shifter down.
