Guys, finally happened got my first SES ...
Yup, for my first SES after the car was rebuilt. I went on a business trip to Venezuela. My 94 GP SE had a plenum air leak so I told my wife she could use the GTP. When I returned 4 days later(a.k.a Friday), she came to pick me up at the airport and the car was accelerating from stop really ugly. A lot if engine reving and the car was not moving at all. When I sit on the car she told me that the only problem she had was that she activated the performance shift once and then she disengaged it again, no overheating no nothing.
The SES light was on. The car starts like it is on 3rd gear and does not shifts at all. Tomorow I will test the waranty that I supposedly got with the Job they made. I have read a thousand posts here about tranny problems, This really sucks, what could have happened to the tranny? I forgot to mention that when the car is really cool, before getting to the 185 degrees it shifts all gears harshly but it do. Then when it arrives to the driving temp it just sticks on 3rd. I can manually make it shift from 3rd to 2nd and viceversa and that is pretty much it. I called the tencnitian and said that might be the solenoids but what the heck might have made this fail this ugly. When I left the car was running fine... |

Re: Guys, finally happened got my first SES ...
I know the scan tool arrived but since I was out of PR I made it arrived to a buddy's house and he told me it was there. Can't drive there to get it tought, so I will scan the car first thing in the morning. I do not want to leave wife alone for now, she is pregnant and she is on her third quarter so it is kind of harsh for her to tumble around these days bur since tomorow I will get help I will get on the car first thing in the morning. I will let you know...

Re: Guys, finally happened got my first SES ...
the day after i got my car it messed up...kinda like what you say yours is doing..like it was trying to start out in 3rd gear. the ses light was on and it was lugging very, very badly. the dealer had to replace a speed sensor in the tranny. $500 worth of work...for free.

Re: Guys, finally happened got my first SES ...
Well the codes that I got where the following:
P0717, P0753, P0758, P6718. To my understanding 717 was, open circuit at the speed sensor, the 753 & 758 where tranny solenoids A&B Open and there was a P6718 that I do not have idea what it is for. The funny thing is that on my Z-34 when the speed sensor failed there was no speed reading on the odometer. I just got the LS1 scanner for the PALM OS V3.5 and it is funny the car did not had to get to the shop. I resetted the SES and the car is working normally. The guy that did the job told me that maybe the ECU (PCM) fell on some kind of safe mode preventing the car to run normally until it got scanned. The only problem wife had with the car was that she fell on a big pothole. I do not know what else could put the PCM on safe mode. Nevertheless I reset the SES and the car is running fine now, so I saved the trip to the shop… Any information about the PCM safe mode thing? Ripn12s, I got 3.5deg from 0 to 60 and when reaching the 100mph the kr averaged 4.5degs. Tell me what you think? |

With that KR I deffenetly wouldnt use your other pulley.
Scan the car again and see what the o2's are. Should be around .91 for a good running/tuned car. Anything below a .89 is considered dangerously lean and anything over .94 is considered to rich. |

Re: Guys, finally happened got my first SES ...
Ok, assuming that the O2 reading is ok then what I can do that do not involve installing a cooler thermostat to lower the KR without my intervention.
I have to tell you that with the scanner working in Gauge mode helps me enhance the car acceleration reducing the KR. I have discovered that you as a driver have some control over the KR depending the LD the car has and TPS position under any given acceleration condition. This morning (4am to be exact) I was at the highway and was able to get a heck of a quicker response just not flooring the pedal at once. With the Scanner in place when accelerating as soon as the KR started I just released the TP a little then pressed it again but slower repeating this procedure every time KR showed up. Accelerating using this fashion I did not let the KR ever pass 2deg and let me tell you I reached 145mph a lot quicker than before and the car felt more responsive. The problem here is to keep that in mind when racing, that is why I was thinking of getting a 105octane fuel mix to see what happens. What you think? |
