Ping sound comming from shaft when shifting
I have a 2001 GC Laredo & it makes thing pinging noise when shifting from drive to neutral, and sometimes from Reverse to park. Went to my dealer and told me that it could be the shaft but i'm afraid that it could be the differential. This is a 2wd & v8.
PS. I understand that the brakes makes a squeeky noise when you shift gears but this is not the case. Im sure its somewhere around the shaft. Please help! Dennis |

Re: Ping sound comming from shaft when shifting
Depending on the mileage it may just be the universal joints need to be replaced as thats what usually makes a tinny type of noise when shifting in and out of gear. You might want too check it out, it is a cheap fix.

I just picked up my car today from the dealer and they said that its a known problem with the yoke. Not to sure what that really is seems to be a lot better now. Im just worried that this might be a problem again later. I feel that there's too much torque.
I have 22,500 miles on it still, although not too worried about the expense since its still under powertrain warranty till 2009, its just the inconvinience. |
