Which speakers to buy....

Since Kicker asked that a new thread be started on this, I figured I would start it. Isn't there a company called JL and JBL? Which is better? I have a friend that has 2 JLs (I think) 10" and they hit pretty hard, but at the same time are nice and clear.

Yes there is JBL, and then there's JL Audio...which people just say JL. I had 4 12" JL W6 subs in my honda prelude. They were the best subs that I have ever owned, maybe with the exception of my Kicker solo barics. I don't know much about the JBL subs, but I would highly recommend JL subs to anyone and everyone. They make JL W0, W3, W6, and I believe now W7s. Hope that helps.....

AirbagsOnDaHonda said that the JBL GTIs hit pretty hard so I'm going to look them. Btw my friend has or had a Rockford Punch amp, forgot which one it was but he blew it. How do you blow an amp? I have my MTX 4320 amp and I always bump my shit hard. Plus I ripped my amp out of a used car.

I've blown 3 amps by hooking them up wrong and I used to have 4 MTX 2150x amps, and 1 MTX 2450 amp, very good amps.

155.2 was the decibles in my car. That's how loud it was. anything above 140 is very good.

Damn I remember watching a basketball game awhile ago, think it was the Bulls when Jordan was playing and they measured the decibles that the crowd made and it was only like 114.

You are talking about about a whole arena vs. the small confined area of a car. Huge differance... and when he said "anything over 140dB is good" it can also cause permanant hearing damage. Please be carefull when playing with high dB audio systems!

ive blown 4 jensen amps, 2 mtx, and 3 power acoustik, comes from bad hookup, or bad connections, or bad ohm loads. i have also had both jl and jbl subs, jl are really good, but i wouldnt recommend the jbls to anyone, they sound fine, but much much better can be had for the price. the only reason i bought mine is i ran into a deal, 2 brand new jl gt series 10's for $50, cant go wrong there!

i hit 142.something on a single kenwood 600 amp and 2 jl 10's, one jl 12. then i put the kenwood in my closet and hooked up a 1500 watt power acoustik to them, then i changed the 1500 to just the 10's and hooked up an 840 watt power acoustic to the 12, i never measured it but i bet it was a lot of dbs! but now i only have the one jl 12, i sold the rest

and the infinity kappa series components sound awesome for full range speakers, or high range, try to keep them from playing bass and they sound a lot better (silly infinitys bass is for subs) i have those with a 420 watt power acoustik amplifier pushing them and i love them, i have tried quiet a few brands of speakers and these are by far the best full range ive heard (other than mb quart), the downfall, $240 a pair, but on the other hand youre damn lucky to get the mb quarts for that cheap so its not THAT bad of a price.

Yeah, for car audio. You start to lose your hearing at 75 DBs, my car was double that. But I never had it even close to that loud while I was in the car.
