I use the stock lift cuz I'm never getting bigger tires cuz I like being low to the ground and grinding my belly on everthing that I encounter. I also plan on getting a new trasfer case later once the fluid begins leaking. I've never really been off-road. Come to think of it, what does 4 Hi/ Low mean? 4 14.29%
I have a 48" Hi-lift but am getting a 60" 9 32.14%

I added a 4th option as I plan on getting the longer bar for my hi-lift.

I'm Superjens, I just pick up the truck with my bare hands and spin my wheel nuts with my superfingers.

hehe, I said 'nuts'.

That stock jack scares the crap out of me. The first one demolished itself under my truck in front of my bulging, petrified eyes. The second mishap was jacking up Scott's truck, the damn thing slipped and nearly took my fingers off.

As soon as Claus's sliders get to town I'm picking up a 60" and will start work on bracket to mount the bar underneath my roof rack

Jens the hoser!!!

Just buy a couple Horizontal mighty mounts and slap it on top of the roof rack. I don't think it will fit under the rack? The base and mechanism are to big!

Here is a link of what I am talkin' about.

http://www.xterrain.com/

It's Ian Firth's site, and a good way to mount it if you don't want it inside or don't have a rack to attach it to.

Yup that is my problem.
Some jeep guy that had this problem would use rachets straps to pull the truck lower so that he could park

Well I should be moving in a year so the lift will have to wait.

What I was thinking was just detaching that long-ass rod from the base and handle, and tossing it up underneath the crossbars with the mighty mounts I have or something else. The base and handle can fit anywhere in the trunk.

Am I thinking with my ass or something, won't this work?

I don't understand.

Superjens,

I can see wanting to remove the base, but what's the purpose of removing the handle. Seems like the way your thinking of mounting it would be fine with the handle on. It doesn't really get in the way of anything. Or am I not understanding things?

Like I said, I'm probably thinking with my ass. I just figured the base and handle came off really easily, which would leave me with just that 60" long bar to worry about for storage. The base/handle would fit anywhere, but as other's have discovered the 60" only fits on top.

I need to look at the whole thing again, I guess I'm missing out on some obvious features here. I swear my buddy stores his in his Jeep in pieces and it only takes a second to reassemble (my reasoning for taking it apart in the first place).

Thumbs up So far so good........

I'm fairly pleased with XOC's Hi-Lift mod. I went a bit further by replacing the existing bolts with 3" stainless carrage bolts. I inserted them from the bottom of the mighty mounts. It gives me enough romm on the threads for the jack, a washer, lockwasher then a wingnut.

I've had it up there for two weeks. I've been wheelin a couple of times since and it has yet to come loose. I just couldn't find a place suitable anywhere else for a 60" Hi-lift and I really didn't want it inside the truck.

I still need to fab two brackets to mount my JackGuard to my Surco rack. I need to do some more brainstorming I guess! Maybe I'll bring it in and let my Machine shop teacher devise something?

Here is my concoction.
No problems thus far. I reinforced the sectioned area of the cargo rack. I didn't have a problem sacrificing the rack since its never been used since the first week. It seems strong enough and the weight is close to centered and fairly displaced using two hi lift mounts up front and a hi lift lock out back. I think it would easily handle a 60" since it apprears to have another foot aft available. Four mighty mounts used out back.

The down side would be taking the thing down to use it, sorta bulky.
