hello! I was scannning the internet trying to find some answers for my cars. My baby is a 84 K5 blazer the only problems I've had with it I created for my self. Too busy playing in the mud to notice I picked up a rock and put it in the radiator, I blew the head gaskets but didnt crack the heads!!! pretty good for a girl. (espesially cause Ive blown 2 engines out of my old car from not paying attention to the temp.) my problem car is a 95 neon I bought from my sister-in- law. It was nothing but problems for her, Im ether
or it has sentimental value. ( it was the last thing my father-in-law bought before he died ) Im hoping I can talk up my baby and find help with my problem car. |

Re: Hello everybody!!!
Thank-you for your reply! My lucky lemon has all sorts of problems. lets start with the coolant system, It overheats when it wants to, I can go for months with out it doing anything then it'll blow the head gasket, then loose the thermostat. in that order. I've had problems with the fuel system too. It was cutting out so we put new plugs and wires in it, didnt fix it. so we tried a fuel filter that seemed to work for about 2 months then it started cutting out. Now it's giving me all sorts of wierd unlisted codes and I lost the o2s. Its a crazy car and as soon as i think I've got it figured out something else goes on. Dodge was no help they told me if I wanted anything from them to buy a new car with a warrenty, and take that one to a wrecking yard. Oh' ya one more thing. The speedo. works when it wants to too. Getting rid of it is not an option, it was the last thing my father in law bought before he died. Crazy to hold on to a material thing but it's the only thing we've got.

Re: Hello everybody!!!
Those are some problems indeed. What Engine is in that is it the DOHC? if so Your over heating issue might be cause by a Waterpump. Maybe Rad is partially plugged. Your fuel sys problem, I would need more Info on this. When does it Cut out? How often. Does Temp affect it. or a heat soak (drive it let it sit for 15 min then drive it again) Could be a Fuel injector Shorting out, when one shorts out it shuts then entire sys down. Maybe a Sick Fuel Pump? The Speedo Could be a loose connection. You might have to take the Cluster out and have it sent out to be inspected.

Oh yeah forgot about the codes. Can you list the codes? I can try and find something out at work. Question? How do you know you lost the O2's? I can Try and help you as much as I can, although I am more of a GM person myself, Love those Corvettes. heh. Well I hope Any of my info might have helpped, and any future info is helpful.

Re: Hello everybody!!!
running diag. on the car told me the O2S bad. The car is odd. It is a sohc. I love my chevy for these reasons. No dang computer in it to tell it to mess up and no dang problems. The fuel system is the strangest yet It cuts out at all times, but not all the time. Does that make sense? Its almost like the car can think and it thinks it dont like me. The car is crazy and its making me that way. Its got a 2.0 in it. To the person who sends the 1/2 naked lady Im a girl and a staight one at that but thank you.

Re: Hello everybody!!!
Well According to the info I have They only put DOHC engines in that car. But I could be mistaken. You Might want to try and Get a ECM (Electronic controll module( or computer)) from like a jump yard, for that car, make sure the #'s match. Then try that. I was also Reading Your overheating could also be cause by The Electronic fans not turning on. You should check the connections at the fans and all around. And your Speedo might be Inop do to a none functioning VSS ( vechicle speed sensor) I can only do so much without seeing the car. heh. Your 84 Chevy If I am not mistaken is Computer controlled as well. Most 84's if not all were computer controlled by that time, do to the strickter Emisions controlls

hi amy, i am your neighbor, down here in olympia, how you doin, i own a 1988 chrysler lebaron GTS, 2.2 turbo 5 spd, let me tell you, this car is a blast to drive but did i have the problems with it, first of all, what i would recommend is to take care of the obvious, like the o2's, then take your t-stat out, and check to see if it has a gurgle valve on it, looks like a small little ball attached to the outer rim of t-stat through a very small hole, if you dont have one then i suggest drilling a small 1/8 inch hole in outer edge of the body of the stat, this prevents air pockets and gasses from building up behind the stat not allowing it to open at the right time resulting in overheating and blowing the h/g, as long as the computor has a code issue, it will not run properly, and will probably go into "limp mode", or in other words try to run bypassing the codes generated by existing problems and on old settings it feels are adequate for basic operations, in short be able to run good enough to get it to a local repair shop, till you get the puter happy, its gonna freak out every place possible, i had a vacuum leak in my car and that computer was giving me codes like the map sensor and tps were bad, and it would not idle, wanted to rev up at an idle, cut out and basically just freak out, all over a simple broken vacuum line, so basically look for the obvious first, then dig deeper, and do like your doing now, pick lots of brains, it really does help, good luck with her, i feel your going to figure it out, with help from all of us, glad to see your doing your homework, you go girl.

Re: Hello everybody!!!
To the one who says my baby is comp contolled no no no. Not like new cars. My 84 blazer is not comp contolled. Its a good old fashioned american made engine. I like to call it the bc period (before comp controll) The truck isnt completely controlled by computers, not like the new cars. It kinda makes me laugh my g-pa used to say that computers were gonna run everything. My 84 not so computer controlled I create problems, my 95 completely computer controlled messes up all the time, no help from me needed. keyper thanks for your comments, I finally came to the conclusion that the car was abused for too long and needs a new engine, then we will rebuild this one and pick its brain, we should have a complete understanding when that is finished. If all else fails just start over from the beging right?

Re: Re: Hello everybody!!!
about the computer, amy is correct, gm did not put computers in thier trucks till mid 1985-86, found this out when i went to put a 69 4 bolt 350 in my 82 gmc S/B lowrider, and used the mallory dist, had no porblems with any sensor hook ups etc., by the way, i agree with the rebuild on your engine, too bad you live so far from here, i happen to work in a parts store/machine and engine rebuilding shop, in tumwater, called K&M Engine/Tumwater Auto Parts, check out our website, designed and built by yours truley lol, i put in a photo album too of a few of the cars we did last yr and the motors in them, anyway my point is we could help you rebulid it or rebuild it for you, give me a call at the store for pricing if interested or send an email off the site, www.k-mcorp.com and good luck on your project.

Re: Hello everybody!!!
Well To tell you the Truth yeah Computers have made Things more difficult, but they have improved upon things even more. I would much Rather have a Computer controlled car that a None Computer controlled car. The Newer cars can go 100,000-150,000 Between "Tune-ups" Where as older cars it was 20-30,000. Not only that They are Lasting So much longer. I have come acrossed some cars and trucks with 300,000 + miles on them. The Most I have seen is 450,000 it is a 95 C2500 Truck.
