Few Questions regarding tuning !!!
hi there...
i know just read a few threads and i confused myself now so here are a few simple question... 1) is it good to change the upper and lower intercooler pipes at the time of changing ur bov... that is my car just has a air intake and boost gauge and MBC only no other mods... is it good to change at this time.. or should i really follow the steps in tunning from this link...http://www.dsmtuner.com/tuning-guide...tage1power.php there they say we have to do it at step 11 only... what do u guys think? 2) my car is 1995 gsx AUTOMATIC... and i dont drag race nor street race... so my goal is just to increase the power to 300 - 350hp.... for this do i need to change my exhaust manifold or is the stock one good enough ( i read 95gsxracer saying that it is good enough but dint say until how many hp is this good enough thats why i am asking it again )3)Turbo and fuel system : - i am planning to upgrade big16g turbo in the later stages and also use 190 walbro fuel pump so is this too good enough to run 300-350hp for a long term??? 4) when using the above (question no 3) setup which injectors is best or lets say good enough for me?? i was thinking about 550 is this ok??? 5) this is bothering me for quite a while... do i really need to change the o2 housing for the horse power dream i got or is the stock one good enough? 6) and the last step in tuning says we got to change the clutch... since my car is automatic.. i thought changing a torque converter (i know both are not the same.. but i want to give equal importance to engine as well as transminssion so both handles smoothly on long term) i am an international student so i dont have enough money... but i gonna work part time and quit smoking and drinking (except if it is free ) and guess wat smoking and drinking alone i save 120-150 dollars a month so my dream might take bit long time but i dont mind waiting and working for it... thanksWomen are like Motor oil we need to change them every 3 months or 3000 miles... if not we will be in trouble - WILLIAM SHAKESPEAR - |

Might as well do tham at the same time. It makes sense to order a UICP that is flanged for the BOV you intend to run anyway. ![]() Quote:
That should be the last thing you worry about upgrading. The only time it makes sense to upgrade that is if you have a 1g, or are going with a full garret turbo that requires a garret specific manifold, etc. Quote:

[quote] 6) and the last step in tuning says we got to change the clutch... since my car is automatic.. i thought changing a torque converter (i know both are not the same.. but i want to give equal importance to engine as well as transminssion so both handles smoothly on long term)[/quote[ I'm admittedly no expert on auto tranny cars, but I would suggest doing end clutches and a shift kit, and leaving the stock converter. Good luck.

Re: Few Questions regarding tuning !!!
Of course you CAN run a 255 with no reg. But it will be rich when the engine isnt consuming much fuel. Thats idle and cruise, or about 99% of the time spent driving
If you start to datalog and tune the car, you will see this effect easily. If you know what you are looking at you can tune around it, but your tuning wont make sense unless fuel pressure is where the ECU expects it to be. Even a 190 slightly overruns the stock regulator, but its well within the ECUs ability to compensate. It still throws off your tuning efforts, but you can get around it if you know what you are looking at.

Re: Few Questions regarding tuning !!!
do you think that if you upgraded the injectors they could compensate for the larger 255 fuel pump better then the stock injectors.

Re: Few Questions regarding tuning !!!
injectors don't compensate for anything. they allow you to flow more fuel, which is the problem in the first place.

Re: Few Questions regarding tuning !!!
Right. LArger injectors will make it worse. The higher pressure will always be there, regardless of injector size. And more pressure on a larger injector means more fuel passed than with smaller injectors.

Re: Few Questions regarding tuning !!!
pressure should be set to ~38 for 1g, ~43 for 2g. The easiest solution is bolt on regs like the one at www.buschurracing.com (375) and www.fullthrottlespeed.com (150?). Many people including myself just get an Aeromotive unit (125) and all the necessary AN plumbing stuff. For all the parts to assemble your own setup see www.anplumbing.com, www.summitracing.com, and www.autoalchemy.com.
