Need Help

To the experts:

I have a 95 Dodge Neon and the speedometer stopped working....so I replaced it but it still works when it wants. I went to a dodge dealership and they don't me that the cluster might be bad.

But I don't want to spend the money on a 'might'.

If it does need a new cluster, would you recommend a used one which I can get cheaper or a new one

Thanks........this is my 1st post by the way.

Re: Need Help

intermittent faults like these are sometimes hard to pinpoint if the problem is not occuring at the time of diag. the dealer may have taken an educated guess based on past experience with these cars if he was unable to duplicate the concern. you could get a junkyard cluster and put it in, but it may have the same problem as yours in the future. also your mileage wouldnt be correct, which is something you would have to disclose if you ever sold it

Re: Need Help

Get a second opinion, from an independent repair shop. Not the dealership. To find the best repair shop or mechanic, ask the people at the local auto parts stores (NAPA, for example). They should know who is the best choice for your particular problem.
