Like who? Show pics, specs. What are you basing your comments on. Explain?

Yes you are probably right but this is no bad thing. Kia has'nt been producing cars for as long as say Ford or Mercedes so it lacks ultimate identity. So stealing little bits from here and there helps make their cars their own, look at the Amanti for example old E-Class headlamps mixed with S-Type body. The Sorento has resemblance to the Lexus RX and Mercedes M-Class as does the Picanto which draws looks from the Toyota Yaris and Fiat Panda. I mean who thought to mix these cars together 'Kia' so they are 'Kias' and totally individual, although in Kia's are begining to show some sort of in-house flair...

Re: Kia copycatting companies

I would never buy a kia, lada, hyundai, suzuki. They have no reliability. They break down alot. Awhile ago I was into imports like Honda and Toy's, because you can trust they will start for years. But since I am starting to work on my own vehicles, I found imports to be a hassle to work on. Expensive parts and labor. Because of the cramped quarters they like to build. I tell everyone I know not to buy kia, lada, hyundai, suzuki.

Well I cannot vouche for Suzuki, although I heard they make pretty decent cars. I also can't couche for the lada, cause I never heard of it. But as for the Kias and the Hyundais, you are sadly mistaken. What are you basing this on? Is it the older model years casue it sure isn't the recent stuff. With Hyundai getting accolades left and right from numerous respectable organizations such as JD Power, Consumer Reports and Asia Pacific among others.

While its true that the earlier models were breaking down due to engine problems etc, one has to realize that these engines were not Hyundais nor Kia, but from other manufacturers. Now a days both Hyundai and Kia are making pretty decent vehicles and considering the value one gets in extra items as standard equipment with the price and warranty one has to admit that Hyundai/Kia have a leg up on the others. Plus the fact that they are being reconginze and recommended by the very same organizations that shot them down a few years ago, and one sees that both Hyundai and Kia are climbing that very same ladder that both Honda and Toyota went through but at a much faster rate.

As for reliability, one only has to go through the forums here in AF and read the constant threads of problems that are brought up and comparing them to the Hyundai and Kias sections you will noticed that are much lower for the Korean brands.

Re: Kia copycatting companies

it's funny you say that the earlier models were always braking down and stuff since the engine was a BP engine which is the same as Ford and Mazda. The main reason why older kias broke down was because people thought they were disposable cars since they were so cheap in price. If you remember all the flaws they had were captured and recalled, which some people think is a bad thing for cars to be recalled but the reality is that is the best thing any car company can do, since most car companies don't recall theyre product to make them look better in the end look what happened with Ford to mention an example. Remember the linlcons were catching fire left and right? why cuz they didn't want to recall them. They knew what was wrong from the begining that got them in big sh1t. Remember explorers rolling over and they kept saying "it's because people don't check their tire pressures" I personally have a big feeling that they should have recalled them and changed the tires but too much money and a recall would have made them look bad. Most of these are my opinions
