please help..hesitation prob
Hi, I have a 98 Wrangler with 32,000 miles that I've had for 3 months.
After 1 month, it would have this strange smell that someone thought was maybe differential fluid. Then on 2nd month, sporadically it would hesitate when taking off in 1st gear. Sortof sputters then goes full throttle. Now it's doing this 3 times a week & even did it in 2nd gear & my check engine light is now on. The dealership doesn't have an opening for the next 6 days! Does anyone have any info that could help me? Is it even ok to drive? The service lady gave me nothing because they would need to look at it. Please help me!!! |

The fact that the check engine light has come on is a good thing. This has triggered a trouble code in the computer and that code will help diagnose the problem. A lot of auto parts stores ( at least here in upstate NY ) have a scan tool and will retrieve the codes for free. Autozone is the store I have used in the past. Other than that you will need the dealer ( expensive ) or a small shop that is equiped with a scan tool and familiar with jeep systems. I would drive it as little as possible until you have it serviced.
