Question dashboard lights

i have a problem with my dashboard lights. i have a 1995 jeep wrangler. the only time the dashboard lights turn on now is when i push the brake pedal in. when the brake pedal is pushed the parking lights and the dashboard lights turn on. i have checked all the wires and even replaced one of those relay things. nothing seems to work. help.

Sounds like you will have to follow the exposed wires as best as possible to locate a splice or shorted wire making contact with a positive dash wire. Has the Jeep wiring always done this or is this something new that has occurred during the time you have owned the vehicle? I personally have not had this problem with my 1995 Jeep Wrangler so I am very interested in what you find.

Re: Re: dashboard lights

Did you change or have someone recently change one of your lightbulbs? Happened to a friends car last month. One incorrectly inserted bulb (it was the wrong bulb too) and the results were very much like yours!. Humor me and check your bulbs. It sounds silly and I would not have believed it myself without seeing it happen. My other guess would be a faulty ground wire. Its amazing what those things can do to system.
