but the "premium sound" isn't so premium. i had an easy time popping those speakers. i think that it now sounds a hell of alot better with the pioneer 6x9 in the back and the boston accoustics (don't remember the size i think 5 1/4) in the door panel

Re: "Premium Sound System"

ive noticed that when i took my stock amp out and replaced the front door speakers with kenwood 6 1/2 and put a new kenwood head unit cdplayer in, that the bass was just gone. my girlfreind has a stock 01 eclipse rs and the sound system is great.
And another ? how the hell do i hook up the dash speakers. havnt found the wires that lead to the dash speakers to the factory amp or radio location.

Re: "Premium Sound System"

if you want premium sound you get what i got k? Focal Uptopia 3 ways in the front and 2 ways in the back and you get Kicker L7s Subs with Precision power Amps. PPI AMps and Focal Speakers are the best on the market. You can get better subs if you want but the L7s will whoop any subs at Best buy or the Good guys. People are probably gonna post sayin that Boston is the best of some crap but dont listen to them k. Focal 3-ways cost 1500.00 a pair and the PPi amps cost about a 1000.00 a piece. Its pretty expensive stuff for a car stereo but you will have some of the nicest stuff around =D. You can get the PPI stuff cheaper then that if you want used stuff or get it off Ebay; I personally wouldnt buy of Ebay becasue you cant see what your getting with this kind of mechandise and if you go with PPI get last yrs models no the new ones because they made them crappy so that they wernt so expensive. good luck with your stereo =D

1500 bucks is TOO much for 3 ways. it just seems like a waste. i'm happy with my 800 dollar sound system

I don't really have much to share here. I got an Xplode sound system back in september for my bday, got new speakers for the back and for the doors, I don't know if I got new dash speakers. It's pretty good, it replaced my old Kenwood system. We were gonna add in a Crossfire amp, but decided not to because the sound system already rattles the windows. But it's a pretty sturdy system, I've done everything to it short of hitting it with a hammer. I got the 10 cd changer add on for Xmas, and we mounted it in the trunk. Out of curiosity though, would it be possible to mount it that stupid trunk cover thing? It'd be nice to finally make it useful.

Depending on what you're going to do with the car determines if you're gonna get subs or not. If you plan on racing it seriously, don't bother because they'll add a lot of weight. My cousin took out the backseat in his BMW 325 and cut out a metal plate, the car dropped 55 pounds. He put in 2 subs, the car gained 84 pounds. But if you don't plan on racing it, by all means add all the subs you want.

Re: "Premium Sound System"

i had the same problem with the tweeters, but i found out that they were bad. i looked at the wiring schematic and it shows that the tweeters connect to the side door speakers. Instead when i took it to get fixed they made a direct connection from the tweeters to the stereo.
I'm just starting to get my system for my car. i just bought some rocksford fosgate subs and an amp to go with it.

Re: "Premium Sound System"

The infinity amp is under the passenger seat right? I think the people who installed my system-->(two tens and amp in trunk) unplugged it... Is that supposed to be like that? I don't really see why I would need it anyway, because I'm only using the two speakers in the back seat.

Theres no reason why those Focal Utopias should have cost more then 650 for the pair. And 1000 for a PPI amp is way over priced as well. But you are right they are some of the best out there.

But If you are on a budget Memphis,Audiobahn,JL,& Kicker make some very nice subs and amps that are pocket friendly.

As for Mids and highs. MB Quart is the way to go. They are pricey as well. But not anywhere near the price of Focals.

The reason why you dont have any bass anymore is because you need to use an amp to power your aftermarket speakers properly. The head unit isnt throwing enough power to the new speakers so they are being under powered and not producing any bass. They just sound like they are screaming at you when you turn them up. I had the same problem when I changed my speakers. If you can find a cheap little 200-300 watt amp and hook up your mids and highs to that you will notice a hell of a difference.

the tweeter problem

the tweeters do not work because they are wired directly into the amp under the pass. seat. if you hook them up to your head unit they will blow. your best bet is to go out and buy an aftermarket component system.
