Suspention Upgrade

Hey i haven't posted in a while but have come across a new question.

I want to lower my sol 1" - 1.5" enough to notice but not over done where i'll be scrapping the bottom of the car going over speed bumps.

i've looked on ebay and saw some coilovers that can be changed to drop the car 0-4". Though i've heard coilovers aren't the best way to go.

What are my best options and $ saving ideas?

Suspension

True coilovers are the best choice, cheap Ebay coilover sleeves are the worst choice. H&R makes nice springs for a resonable price, Neuspeed & Eibach aren't so bad either. You will need aftermarket struts for your new suspension to work properly.

yeah and aftermarket shocks as well. Teins are NICE shocks, but expensive. If you just do coilovers, you'll blow your stock shocks pretty quick. Skunk2 are pretty good springs for the buck. A little rough on the ride, but you get a rougher ride anyways. Always go with adjustables... that way you can change your ride height as needed/wanted.

adjustable dampening? it really depends on wether or not you get "coilover" (sleeves) or springs.

for isntance, H&R oe/sports springs will work fine on non adjustable struts like Koni red's. their spring rated arent too agressive anyways, you wont get the world out of those springs. but for higher spring rates liek the skunk 2's or H&R race (which has a rediculous drop) then adjustables would be well worth it if you tune it right. if the dampening is too stiff, you will get a bouncy car.

i love my H&R's, i havent had good luck with eiback, they sagged and rode very harsh. didnt feel progressive at all (As they claim).

so...

Great ideas but im still not 100% sure on what to look for.

I've heard a lot of great things about skunk 2s. though i do want adjustables. Are skunk2s adjustable and can i use them to lower my sol 1-1.5"s?

Re: so...

If you want coilover sleeves I can only recommend 1 brand & thats Ground Control with Eibach springs.
