Unhappy Worst gas mileage

Just filled the truck up and nearly crapped my pants! I got 12 mpg with the swampers this week? Unless someone siphond out a 1/4 tank of fuel, something is not quite kosher? I have 32k miles! Should I try some sort of fuel system cleaner? I'll check my timing later this week.

Don't tell me now you're going to complain about the Xterra gas mileage:finger:

Actually, you commute from Tacoma to Seattle right? We've had pretty bad winds for the past week or so. I'd guess it could just be from driving against strong winds.

What do you normally get? With swampers and the SR plates (and all the other "crap" you have on there), you'd think there would be a decrease in mileage.

Yeah the winds have been whipping me the last two days driving from Tacoma to Seattle! Two hand driving with Swampers and a worn center-link! I usually get about 260 miles on a Swamper tank and 300 on a Grabber tank. This fillup I got 220!

But adding weight I figure I have:
ARB 60lbs(more than stock)
EOE sliderz 100lbs
SR skids 85lbs
5 Swampers 100lbs (more than stock)
Recovery bag and tool box 50lbs

2 people (carpool) with combined weight of 500, not including me!

You know if I had a huge commute to and from work I wouldn't be doing it in an X. I'd buy some little Hyundai beater car and rag on it. Gets better mileage and you only have to tolerate it on weekdays.

What size swampers are you running? That can make quite a difference. I know with my 32" tires my recorded mileage is 5.46% less than my actual mileage based on my GPS data. That equates to more than 1.5 MPG when I correct.

Well, right now, I'm getting 19 MPG running mostly stock everything. I am upgrading to 31's though. I also do 120mi a day to and from work. Keep in mind, that's only Mon-Fri. That doesn't count anything on the weekends- Trips to EOE, to Ken's for NJAX mod'ing, Skirmish USA for paintball. :sun:

On the way back from VA last weekend I got just over 17 mpg. I usually get 15 mpg. I'm running 31's and my speedometer is now correct.

Did you do something to correct it? I have 31's too, but didn't know there was anyway to correct the speedometer.

on my thanksgiving trip back to kentucky from DC i got about 11mpg. of course this is with all my mods, 32" MTR's and 4 people in the truck. driving up and down the mountains of west VA didn't help either. 190 miles on the tank when the light came on. Just over 17 gallons to fill up.

Several people have found that the X speedo is dead-on with 31" tires, meaning that it was reading a bit on the fast side with the stock tires.

Yup. If you look on the EOE website under the Rock Sliderz tab, it will quote the weight for you. Actually, I think the weight is 110lbs, but 10 lbs isn't going to do much...
