Has this happened to anyone? I took it to my dealer and he replaced a 'pin' (the receipt doesn't say what the pin is) and yet it still sticks until the car warms up.

Re: 2003 Jetta Auto shifter stuck in park in very cold weather
its a sensor in the transmission... i forget which one to be honest (not much help i know)... seems to be relatively common, happens in my friends Accord too.
I say thats what you get for buying an automatic, personally.

Re: 2003 Jetta Auto shifter stuck in park in very cold weather
The pin they refer to is probably a part of the shift lock solenoid which is adjustable. The system is probably working since you eventually get it out of park, it's just getting stuck. To adjust place in P or N, take off the trim cover and loosen the solenoid mounting screws. Insert a .019" feeler guage (about the thickness of a matchbook cover) between the shift lock solenoid push rod & shift lever (moving the solenoid if neccessary), then retighten the screws. I would try setting the adjustment cold & see if it still works when warm.
