I'm getting one!

I've read a lot of posts here and there's a lot of hate towards the Aztek. Don't really understand it, but I'll admit when I first saw the Aztek, I thought, "what an ugly car." I didn't hate pontiac, the Aztek or the people who bought the car. But after I've been checking it out a bit I realize that 1. I don't buy a car to impress other people. If you don't want in my Aztek, I don't want you in there. 2. I want a confortable ride with enough room to do what I need, people, stuff, dog, etc.

I've read a lot of positive reviews from owners at various auto websites (www.edmund.com) is a great one.

My father works for GM so I get a family discount. Since I'm a tightwad, I decide right off the bat that I'm getting a GM car. Sure there's lots of choices, but my ceiling sticker price is about $24,000. That limits my choices, for and SUV-type.

I've had 2 Chevy Cavaliers in the past 15 years and am wanting an SUV-type vehicle for a while and looked into the Chevy Trailblazer. But the Trailblazer looks almost like any other SUV out there. You name it, until the last year or two SUVs were like of the same mold.

Through the whole process, I've been checking out the Aztek and the more I see it the more I like it. I'm not crazy about the color choices, but there's a black 2004 with sunroof and those 17" five-spoke wheels and the tinted windows. I think it looks real good. I'm taking the test drive tomorrow.

I still think the Aztek is kind of ugly, but that's part of the appeal for me at least. I think the interior looks real good and the tent and bike package are a great appeal for me.

I don't come to this forum to talk trash about the Aztek - I save that for the "Cars I love/hate" forum back a couple clicks.

Its your money. As long as you're happy with what you're buying then thats all that matters. I'll continue to criticize GM for making that monstrosity and killing off the Trans Am and I’ll do my best to convince people not to buy one. But, if you’ve made the decision, I hope your new ride performs how you hope and lasts as long as possible. Good luck.

Re: I'm getting one!

Well the Aztek is one of the most reliable cars from GM, which isn't saying much. If you are strictly buying from GM then thats the car for you but there are much more reliable imports out there for under 24g like the RAV 4.

Got it!

Well I got the Aztek almost a couple weeks ago. I've never really had a problem with the design. At my very first sight of it, I did think it was ugly, but that was part of the appeal. But after I saw it a couple times, I think it looks awesome. It rides great, looks good and has a decent sound system. And now that I know it's one of the more reliable GM cars... Bonus.

I've gotten a lot of compliments on it and zero looks of disgust (that I've seen anyway!). Even got a few thumbs up from strangers. YogsVR4: Dont' really understand why you call it a montrosity and disuade people from buying one, but it's a free country, so that's cool. I do appreciate you not trashing it or me. And I do agree that the Trans Am shouldn't have been discontinued.

I've been a car afficionado for many years and I'll admit that the Aztek is not the best looking vehicle out there, but I sure as hell know they there are a lot of worse looking / performing cars out there.

Black, cool

Im getting one too.

Im not getting it new but a 2001 is only 10K (sometimes less)

I just want a different everyday driver.

Suvs are too trendy.

I dont care what people think about me anyway. I'll have a vette as a weekend toy and my aztek as a road trip and everyday driver.

First you might what to take a look at the reliability ratings for Toyota and GM, you might be surprised that GM surpasses Toyota in reliability in some areas and in others they were very close. Also take a look at the Aztek and than take a look at those Scions that you like so much, I don't know if it is just me or what but the Aztek looks a hell of a lot better than those Refrigerators on wheels that Scion makes.

I really wish people would get off the imports and start looking at domestics again. Those damn kids that race those stupid Japanese cars up and down the streets all night need to see some real cars that are real performers. I mean come on, those 5 foot high wings on the back, all that Vinyl, and the tin can mufflers are really not going to help your performance, not to mention it looks and sounds totally stupid.

Ever try to put a 4X8 sheet of plywood in a Rav-4??? Won't fit. And you can buy an Aztek a whole lot cheaper than a Rav-4 and have 1/2 again as much room.
