Hi, My 96 Winstar's check engine light is on. I was told that the cylinder 1 miss fire(error code PO301). The service center clearned the passages. The light went on again a few days later since then. Do anyone have any idea what the problem may be? Thanks a lot.

Re: What is cylinder miss fire
Hi Winhui
There are a myriad of reasons, but, in my limited experience with my van It has usually been simple, Case in point I recently had the exact same problem and code and it was simply that I failed to re-seat the spark plug lead properly onto the #6 plug. Check your spark plug leads along their full run. You will have to feel for the rear ones blindly - your #1 should be vehicle right rear, with 3 and 5 to the left of it. 2,4,6 across the front. Also make sure the leads are seated well at the coil - large box where all six leads meet. Just a thought as I have only had the problem twice and it was a lead both times. Good luck Mel |
