ZC common probs?
In most of my posts concerning engines, i bash SOHC. I have that crap.
I want a ZC, but I heard they were problematic. besides overrevving and trowing rods, what else is problem spots on this motor?

Re: ZC common probs?
i f your looking for real cheap perf. though a zc isnt a bad motor because it is d series therfore it uses all stock mounts tranny shiftlinkage etc. so id go with it keep stock rev limit you might be ok. the block probally wont throw a rod as long as your not boosting

Re: ZC common probs?
is it just me or has there been a huge d-series engine rage on here lately? have we run out of b, d, and h series topics? not a bad thing, just curious.

More people own D's than B's or H's

Re: ZC common probs?
but it seems that less d-series owners genuinely care about their cars...just an observation. there are exceptions, as with everything, but seeing as how the d engine is, for the most part, the entry level motor.

Well, it's only natural to care more about a $2500 B16 than a $200 (if that) D15.

Id imagine a lot of D series owners(in general) merely buy them to get from point A to B. The enthusiasts will look into it and find that the B series are more performance oriented and therefore more expensive so they get those and make sure they take care of them to avoid expensive repair bills. Others like the underdog D(no offense) and can do wondrous things with them, plus they are cheaper so experimentation can be less of a gamble making success that much more. I have a B18 and take care of it, and a lot of people with these nice B series engines have stock civics or crxs to drive around as beaters.

Re: ZC common probs?
speakin of this..... my buddy bought a crx with the motor out of it... the motor came with the car it was in the trunk we found out that it is a crx si motor 1.6 SOHC d16a6 anyway i now know that it has arias 11:1 forged domed pistons in it it has been resleeved with fresh rods and steel crank the motor was balanced it wasnt even put back in the car.. the kid needed to sell the car to make money i know the compression is high but i can gewt the motor from him for almost nothin due to the fact that i put another motor in the car for him.... i would like to put it in my hatch and turbo it... my question is...... is that to high of c/r to put a turbo in and fine tune the car perfectly???
