Acceleration noise

I have a 1997 Dodge Ram that has an intermittent grating like noise on acceleration...I've never had any major problems with the truck and have just under 80,000 miles on it.

Re: Acceleration noise

What you describe it sounds like its pinging. This could be from a number of things. Worst case would be the belly pan gasket, also tune up, plug wire routing , bad gas. Does the truck seem to be lacking power?

Acceleration noise

Dan,

No it foesn't seem as if I'm losing power...the noise appears to be coming from the rear. Could it be wheel related?
