Question H22 Swap questions?

Hi, i just completed a swap in my 93 S model prelude. I dropped in a JDM H22A. I was wondering if there was anything really special i needed too do. Im waiting on an exhaust right now for it, but i got the fuel rail changed and the crank pulley, and the motor runs i drove it out of the shop. Me and my buddy did the swap and we hooked up the two wires for vtec cuz my car didnt have them, i think there was only two? Im not sure if there maybe something wrong with something maybe wiring, or computer, but i held gas to floor and the rev limiter came on at 6800rpm, and i thought it was suppose to happen at 8500? I will find out for sure when i drive it next week but it has got me wondering if there were more wires to hook up or anything weird or what? Any helpful advice would be appreciated. thanks to anyone.

93 F22 to H22a jdm

Hi Jon,

I'm just about to begin the same swap as you have done. My 93S with 220K threw a rebuilt axle and took out the tranny. Osaka H22a in the garage awaiting time.

As I understand there a 3 wires to be added. Oil, VTEC, Knock sensor from the f22 harness to P13 ECU.

Question. Are you using h22A axles? Did you replace fuel pump?
Any pregame suggestions are welcomed...

Yes, i added the three wires and now the car runs great with no check engine lights, added the oil pressure, vtec, and knock sensor. Umm im using my stock axles that came with my car at the moment but im also hearing a noise in the left front wheel area? IM not sure if there is something rubbing or what, there are no visible signs at the moment, umm also my car has been dropped two inches which with the extra weight im thinking may have screwed something up? I didnt replace the fuel pump and as i said i used my axles i already had. I believe the are the exact same as the other lude axles as long as u didnt have ABS. If u have ABS there is a different axle i believe, otherwise they are the same i think? I am going to put coilovers in and check for rubbing noises then, the weird thing is i kinda only hear it usually around 3000 rpm, and sometimes when i start out driving?

h2 swap

mrbob1983...your rev limiter kicks in at 6800 because you have the stock conmputer...your vtec probably doesent work either just the motor does. you have to get an obd1-p13 ecu which is the h22a ecu to make the vtec turn on and also to raise the redline...if the vtec does work and you do have the right ecu then just get a hyper chip to disable the redline.

Re: H22 Swap questions?

Hey Jon,
Did you change the wiring harness and computer when you swapped the engine?? V-tec will only work with a V-tec computer and harness. These should have been with the engine when you bought it. Otherwise the V-tec will only work sporatically and have mind of it's own. Pretty sure that should be the answer to your ???'s. Good luck mate and let me know what happens.
