AEM bypass Vavle
Hi again, did anyone hear about a recall for all bypass valves for AEM cold air intake. I was told that if water is sucked up the foam they use gets wet and goes into the engine and cannot be cleaned out. Did anyone hear that. My friend just got a new intake and they now come with a special airbox and say not to use a bypass valve. This worries me because i have had a cold air with valve for a while now.

This kind of scares me, i'm wondering if i should by there newest bypass valve and just put that on. I don't know of any links but i'm going to e-mail AEM to find out.

Re: AEM bypass Vavle
in a honda/acura book i read by mike kojima there was a section saying the valves do work and has a pic of a intake with the filter in a fish tank full of water with the bypass valve sticking above the water and it had a vacum suckinkg throught the pipe.if that helps i dout it was rigged but i hope they work good because ive had one for a while now. i was wondering if it is ok if i have my bypass valve betweeen the end of my aem intake and the throttle body?because i see alot of people on there intakes in there preludes they have the valve in the muddle of the piping.

Re: AEM bypass Vavle
I'd stick with the middle of the piping. It was engineered to work that way by the company.

Re: AEM bypass Vavle
heres the deal with the recall, if your bypass valve is yellow foam on the inside, GET IT REPLACED!!! if it is a white silky material, you're fine. the yellow foam, when it gets wet, it comes apart, so you end up with pieces of faom and water in your motor instead of just water. they replaced the yellow foam with the white silky material. hope that helps. peace.
