|
Just want to know if you guys have a preferance, and why. I have been leaning towards a 33 when I get to the UK, but I would like to know a little more about the cars before I jump on noe. Thanks......Tony

The R34 looks the best and there all the same in performance. I wish I had pictures to show you

I think the R32 looks sharp. A little classier than the newer ones.

R 32 is the lightest but the oldest. R33 is the heaviest but closer to the r34 in term of styling. R34 is the widest but still heavier than the r32 and lighter by about 40kg than the r33. So...pick your choice....
Look wise, I'd go with the r34 anytime.Performance wise....well all use the same engine. R34 has been tweaked at the cam .....therefore it has more peak torque than the other 2 models at 3800 rpm. But who cares. Look aside, the RB26 DETT in all the models can be coaxed to even cough out 1300 bhp!! The Japs have this habit of "improving" their engine in a later model and jack up the price like nobody's buisness!! I mean look at the price differences between r33 and r34 and the so called improvement between the two models. Almost none! (apart from the torque - which in any event does not matter as the r33 will be modified- and the lcd display in the r34 ). So, if money is no object and look really matters, buy the r34. If not settle for a used 33 or 32. BTW, many say the 32 is the best performer. Having driven one, I tend to agree..... |

My two cents...
I think the R33 is the best looking.
I think the R34 is the sportiest, probably the most advanced. I think the R32 could be mistaken for a "regular car," which may give it the greatest advantage of all... |

Thanks for the replies.
R33 so I take it you have a 33 and you said you drove a 32. Was the 32 that much of a better handling car? I do not think I would ever try to put a car with over 600hp on the street, let alone 1300hp One thing about power, the more you put into a car, the more problems you will have down the road. |

I do own a 33. But i could never shake this feeling that the 32 is the best overall performer. At 1500 kg curb weight and 4545mm length, it is the lightest and shortest of the 3 models. It's torque is 36 kgm at 4400 rpm while the 33 has 1.5 more and the 34 has 4 more at the same rpm. The little difference in the torque is compensated by the difference in weight and length. It may not be a looker, but overall I think it is the best. The cockpit is a bit dated but it has it's own character - it harks to the 60's functional and purposeful look. No more and no less.
The handling is nimble - much more response than my 33. Throttle response is much faster as well due to the weight factor. In a 33 or 34, the same could be obtained for a price - carbon fibre body parts will do that. The engine is the same - so careful and wise mods will turn it into a really powerful car. Mine has 380 whp and the 323 which I drove has 362 whp - and I felt the 32 was more nimble and responsive. I'd never driven a 34 but I would guess that it is not that far away from my 33 in terms of handling. If that was the case, than the 32 is a better choice. The problem with the 32 is it's age. From 89-94.....so the most recent 32 you could ever get would be years old. The engine might have been trashed. If there is a low mileage 32, than it's ok. That's my opinion. Go to UK Skyline Register site - really a good place for infos on the S'line. |

That was the information I was looking for. That site you mentioned, I have been there. The have good tech information, which I really get into. I was tellin Igor once I get my Skyline I am going to try to post all my tech data on here. I think now days, most people who come to these boards are looking more for that information, more than anything else. I will try to help this board as much as I can, since its one of the best thought out boards on the net. Good job Igor, you the MAN! |

Well, i do my best at making this site the best About the GT-Rs, R34 is much more advanced than an R32, even R33. It has a different transmission [6 speed manual oppsed to 5 sp of R32 and R33] for example. Also, I've heard that it handles much better, can be tuned to higher levels, and is much more aerodynamic [thus the shape that it has]. Anyone can back these up? I don't remember the details.

Oooops...I forgot about the Gertrac 6 speed gear in the 34. That sounds a lot better than the 32 & 33's transmission. But hey, in about a year's time, I would be able to source a used 34 gear for my 33. SkylineUSA, Sport Compact Car (May 2001 issue) runs three articles about the 32, 33 and 34 (Motorex's cars). Although the reviews are not objective (since different reviewer are used and the cars are differently moded), the articles give you a rough idea of what's the differences between the 3 models. BTW, their finding on the 32's handling is completely different than my finding!The morale of the story is - try them by yourself, if possible. |

You'll be happy with any of them. I would say get the R34 V Spec 2. It has better preformance dispite the weight. And if you plan on modifing the car I don't know why you wouldn't reduce the weight. LOL.
