Exclamation rsx beating gts?

what is thsi stuff i read in the rsx post forum where they are saying a base rsx can walk a gt-s both stock, equal drivers. and i mean arent rsx-s and gt-s' pretty close in the 1/4 mile if the drivers were just as good. because im deciding on either a gts or type s, i like the way the gts drives but the type s is alittle faster.

its just the honda vtec ego. i really doubt that a plain rsx will beat a gts given equal drivers. the gts is lighter and has like 20 more hp and a 6spd tranny where a plain rsx has at best a 5spd.

nope, sorry...but the "VTEC ego..." doesn't make us that stupid...

where exactly did u read that? cuz the comparisons were against the type s. yes, a gt-s will walk on a base one...but not on the type-s.

i got a question for ya krnx. why is it that you have all of those goodies in your integra but still run a high 14? i know this is off the subject, but im puzzled by this. i have a 3rd gen celica gt-s with only a few upgrades that could stomp the crap out of it.

i hope ur not talking about only a few upgrades on ur STOCK motor, cuz if u read wut i have on my car, only the i/h/e an clutch would help in a straight line time. an i've taken .4 off my my stock 1/4 time w/ those...

considering the i/h/e will only give u around 10hp on a b series motor, thas not bad at all.

so wut exactly are ur "few upgrades?" cuz ur car is startin w/ 54 less hp an only a bit more torque in a car that weighs almost even with mine. so unless u want to scan in a slip, anything short of a swap or turbo, isn't going to put u into the 14's.

for only having 3 mods that add HP and one that improves efficiency, that time in a gsr is not bad at all.

there is no way an 86 celica is in the 14's with out an engine swap or turbo, its just not gonna happen

so you'll have a better 60ft time. just because you have RWD doesnt mean that your 116hp and 140 tq plus IHE will beat a much newer car with an engine that has way more hp. the mods that you added probably only restored hp that was lost due to the engine's age instead of pushing your car from the 18's it ran from the factory to 14's with nothing but IHE and 18 years on the engine.

so unless you have a time slip, pics and video of you running in the 14's, your just spitting out a whole bunch of BS

agreed. i'd like to see ur car pull past me topend...i really would.

off the line u MIGHT be able to pull about 1/4 of a car, but the top of my 2nd would pull past u like u weren't moving. i highly doubt u've even been to the track, or u'd realize how much over 3 seconds off ur stock time is...

post the slips or there is nothing i can say but b/s.

how about try comparing both base models?
HP TQ Tranny
STOCK celica 140 125 5spd
STOCK rsx 160 141 5spd

RSX TYPE S(w/ i-vtec) 200 142 6 spd
Celica GT-S(w/ vvt-i) 180 130 6 spd

celica: 1.8litre dohc vvti
rsx: 2.0litre dohc vtec

Both the Celica-GT/GT-S and the RSX/type-s are Front Wheel Drive incase of confusion. The celica weighs 200 pounds less than the rsx-s. i have driven both cars, the 6 speed in the celica isn't very good, theres flaws in the drivetrain, maybe the clutch, that make it slower between shifts (car and driver will vouch). however, any 6 speed is hard for some one thats not used to them. the chasis in the rsx felt much stiffer and stayed connected to the road during the entire test drive.

overall in my biased opinion, the rsx type-s is a better car overall. both cars have tons of potential aswell, but stock for stock, base class to base class, and type-s to GT-S, the rsx is faster. And as far as the track goes, for those of you familiar with Integra suspension, it lives on in the DC5 chasis of the RSX.

as far as displacement goes, theres no replacement for displacement.
toyota's engineers should step up to the plate and develop a 2 litre that can be utilized in the celica to compete w/ the rsx.

so for you toyota celica junkies... dont mess with the most powerful N/A i-4s in the world. And also remember that your knock-off vvt-i can suck honda off.

Re: rsx beating gts?

***TO THE RICER TALKIN SHIT ON THE TYPE R****

because hes probably either a complete ricer or a complete horrible driver.

an integra type r runs a 14.5 with a good driver stock.

it doesnt take much for a type r to own the shit out of most ANY toyota on the street since they come with a sleeved block, ported/polished head..., drop some low compression flat top pistons / rods / cams / slap on a turbo and you wont be able to keep the car on the ground.

wow, talk about thread resurrection. anyway, i forgot to mention, it was mostly ego with me. i had a buddy time me (since im too damn poor to take it to a track) and i ran somewhere around a mid 15. once again, foot in mouth. also, about a moth or two after i timed it, i went and got it painted...then blew an exhaust valve. so shes parked til i can save the money to get my supra turbo engine in.

wut does he mean the most powerful i-4's in the world? i always thought that the 3sgte engine was one of them which came in the celicas... and wut does he mean "vvt-i can suck honda off"?? i dont get it... also "theres no replacement for displacement"?? basicaly a turbo makes the engine act like it has more displacement so in that case ur getting the power of a bigger engine in a little engine and it wieghs less... i dont kno wut this fools talkin about
