CatBack Exhaust question.........

i just wanna know what the big difference is between a HB catback and a coupe/sedan catback. is it just that the coupe/sedan has one more piece? i was thinking about buying a HB catback for my coupe and wanted to know if there was any chance of being able to make it work out. I know this probably sounds like im an idiot, but can this work out and if so, u think its a good idea? my dad is a mechanic and one of the guys he works with does custom exhaust jobs but he will want an arm and a leg for it, so if i can do this then he shouldnt need much to make it work is what im thinking. thanks ahead

Re: CatBack Exhaust question.........

First off, I am assuming you are talking about a 6th gen...

I understand where you are coming from - the cat being built into the manifold on the hatch means that the cat-back needs to be slightly longer. My advice is to start by replacing your exhaust header (if you have not already done so). Most of your gains will come from replacing that piece.

As for differences, I believe that they are routed differently, and not interchangable, even with an extension. If you find out differently, let me know - I am interested.

Re: CatBack Exhaust question.........

You are right!! Not noly the HB routing are different, the pipe are at different lenght from the coupe/sedan. I already tried changing them, when I got a new cat back exhaust and gave my old one to my cousin with the coupe civic but it did not fit. The only way you can make it work is to keep the exhaust header and exhaust tip but throw away the down pipe, then just do a straight pipe. This will give you a little bit more hp anyway.
