Oil in Anti-Freeze

Hello,

I hope someone can help me. I seem to have a brownish color looking oily substance in my radiator. I have flushed the system out and for some reason it has returned. I had a new radiator put in and still it has returned. Can anyone tell me what might be causing this? The truck does not overheat. Any advice would be appreciated

Does your oil drop in level? If it does you could have head gasket or head problems. You did not say what engine is in your truck. If it is a 4.0 they are known for the right head gasket going. And worst of all the heads crack between the valves this I know as a fact as I replaced three heads two sets of gaskets before dropping a 5.0 in our Explorer. Good luck

Thanks for your response. I checked the oil and it does not look like there is a drop in the level. I was under the impression that when your head gasket blows it produces a lot of white smoke. If that is the case I have not seen that either. How about the Trani? Could that send oil into the radiator?

Yes there could very well be tranny fluid in the antifreeze as there is a cooler built right into the rad. If the cooler has a leak it goes right into the rad.

Thanks for the information. I guess I will monitor the level of the trani now and see if it drops.
