Hmm What car to choose...

Im getting a new car in March, Bday present from parents for being their fav son and good student . Anyways, I dont know what I really want, mainly because I let my cousin's rumoring get to me about cars performance. So I thought I would ask here and get everyones opinions. I have to stay under $30K. Here are the cars Im looking at...
04' Subaru STi, MKIV Supra-TT, Nissan 350Z, Nissan R32 GTR, Acura NSX.
Whichever I get will be modded exstensively, I want somthing that is good Highway runner, but I live on winding bootleg turning farm road, so its allways nice to have a car that can cut it up in corners.

My first choice was the Nsx, but my cousins talk about they are so much slower compared to my other choices, but Ive heard what they are capable of and told him, but it seems that Nsx's cost alot for aftermarket parts, seeing that I only have a minnimum wedge job.

My 2nd choice was the STi, really havent found anything I dont like about it except I wonder if weight will be a issue and I dont really hear too much about how they are on top end. This in my eye so far is what Im leaning toward.

The 350Z just really doesnt have that many parts out and doesnt really appease me that much. The GTR, I have kept visit Motorex and they never have any cars listed in their stocklist of cars forsale so dont know if any are available, that and Im worried about RHD car. The MKIV, bah, thats really my throwback choice, I really find them overhyped or atleast populated.

Please help me with my decision or leaning toward one. I have a minimum wedge job that I will be using for modding, mainly Coilcovers first then all BPU products. Rember stay under $30K...and for those that are going for the flaming towards me, dont waste your time, say whatever "p0ser", "Spoiled-ass kid", whatever just telling you my options as they stand so. Go ahead and for those that are going to shed help, thanks alot.

And one more thing...The car must be able to beat my cousins car, thats a must! Stock or w/ the basic performance upgrades. He drives a 93' Mustang Coupe (was) 2.3-T but has been bored and ported and such. Anyways, thought I would add that in there... Thanks

You're not going to find an NSX or Skyline for under $30,000.

My suggestion, the Evo 8.

get the nsx my friend, a friend of mie has one he says the power is in the high range rpm's he use to own two vr4's anyhow i'm getting off subject, i say nsx cause of styling and handling and corvette speed stock, at first i thought you were crazy for thinking a nsx would be under 30 grand but just the other day i seen one in the paper for 27 grand but at the same time i would want the r32 cause its high potential along with the supra, sthe r32 also has good handling but in my opinion doesnt look even close to as good as the nsx.
ummm 350Z is out of the pic for me compared to the other cars, but its still sweet as hell

Re: Hmm What car to choose...

NSX...for under $30,000? Good Luck! But I doubt it if you can find one, if you can...that would be my first choice. Otherwise the MKIV Supra TT then the Subaru WRX then the 350Z.

Or you could buy a $12,000 civic and spend the rest on mods or get any other car below $20,000 with performance potentials and spend the rest on mods.

Just my 2cents.

Re: Hmm What car to choose...

the nsx would also be on the top of the list but i say good luck finding one for under 30k like everybody else is saying.

i would say the skyline next but its an r32, and imo they arent as good as the supra tt, but if you were to get a r34, i would rather get that but since its not listed, get the supra.

*EDIT* if you got to get a 15k and your parents give you another 15k since they gave you a 30k limit, i would get a nissan 300zx TT and mod it out (upgraded turbos, bov, waste gate, etc.) and it would be fast as anything else on the list imo.

For those who said I couldnt find a NSX under $30K, just go to autotrader and set in prices from 15K to 30K and you will get 3pages of results. Now about the GT-R, I went to Motorex's GTR site and their pricing structure has their 90' R32 GTR and 91 priced at 30-32K, and if 2K breaks me from getting what car suites me best, I'll just fork in the extra dough myself. Now about the whole buying a civic and spending a significant amount of money modding, one other thing I forgot to mention that I wasnt exspecting to come up, I dont want FWD, just my prefrence, no offence but no thanks. 300ZX modded is also a great car and has proven itself well worthy of highway racing, might even think about that. Also thought about Escourt Cosi, Ive seen a few collecters sell their Cosi's off for around low 30K's. I know I said Dont go over 30K, but the fact is I can go a little over 30K, but if I would have said "Dont go over 36K", chances are you would have gave me a car that costs around 37 or 38. Well that should be it about the price thing unless anything else is to be said. Please keeping giving info. Thanks

Re: Hmm What car to choose...

In my opinion the supra looks really shitty, a stock civic looks pimper. An NSX is the best without doubt looking japanesse car ever...ever...its so sexy, beautiful and fast. GET THAT MAN!

Re: Hmm What car to choose...

if you can than get the nsx for sure. if your main priority is looks than go for the nsx. if its moding than any one of the other ones would be cheaper, if you dont want the nsx for some reason than the others have a lot to do with personal preference.

Re: Hmm What car to choose...

I dont really care about looks as much as I do performance, of course I dont want some haggard ass hooptie that runs 9's. I dont really think any other cars need to be in the options other than the STi and Nsx. STi i love because you have the AWD and can choose % power to the wheels. Nsx I love because of its heritedge and noone around here has one or has ever seen one. Supra's are really nice but they look really bulky and there are allready a few MKIV's around here.
How well are the STi's known for highway racing? Are they overweight for their power?

Re: Hmm What car to choose...

the sti is a little bit faster in the 1/4 mile, but think how much fun you can have with rwd. imo awd is too controlled. in rwd, you can whip the tail around if you want to and awd you really cant. plus, the sti has four doors, sports cars dont have four doors, thats one thing wrong witht the rx-8.

Even if you can find the NSX for under $30K I would still get the Evo.

Re: Hmm What car to choose...

Subaru Wrx STi ( good car but engine wont make much more power than it is already, its pretty much tuned right out)
Toyota MKIV Supra-TT (VERY fast and a strong car, but can really only seat 2 people)
Acura NSX ( Fast, expensive, and in now way practicle)
Nissan 350Z (fast, reliable, handles great, good combination of all the good things a car has)
Nissan Skyline GTR R32 (Where do you live that you can get a skyline???, Great cars tho)

My question really is how old are you? Cause it sounds to me like you are highschool and you are going to get a high performance car as a present. IMO i think your parents are somewhat crazy to do that. You have not had enough driving experance to handle a 300+hp car. IT takes many years to learn how to even control a 180hp RWD car. So i think you shuld hold you parents to buying you a high end car untill later, and get them to get you something a little less powerful. Dont want to see an AF member dead because his car was to powerful. Just my opinion.

Re: Hmm What car to choose...

I would say get the Evo or STi if you want less hassle and lil wait on your car...

But if you are in it for real...get the GTR...just remember that they dont sell parts for it at the local Pep Boys or Nissan (but they can order them for you)
