Throttle sticking
I have a '99 Silverado 1500. I really like the truck, but lately the throttle has been sticking. I really have to press on the pedal to get the gas flowing. Have any of you been having this problem? DO you know how to fix it?

Common problem
just take the air duct off of the throttle body and take some good carb cleaner and spray out the throttle body. Hold the throttle open and spray the throttle plate and bore out good, even take a rag and scrub the bore and plate. There will be a black buildup you will need to clean out, it causes the throttle plate to stick in the bore. Be carefull not to spray too much cleaner back into the intake it might flood your truck out. Hop this helps!!

Focus your cleaning effort on the plate hinges. While you're there look at the bottom of the tb to see if the plate has been making contact with it. My tb was replaced per the tsb but I still have to clean it every so often or it'll stick just the same.

Re: Throttle sticking
This was too easy !!!! I thought I was going to have to take it in to the dealer, and let them charge me an arm and my left "lug nut" to replace something expensive. Carb Cleaner $2.99, at local auto supply house.... Labor $0, in my driveway... The fact that I don't have to smash on the peddle to get moving $PRICELESS !!!! Thanks guys.
