I would save a bit more and buy an used Lancer. The Lancer has really good build-quality in and out, and it doesn't look dated-as-hell like the Mirage.

Of the two I would take the Mirage simply to be different. Everyone has a Civic and they just look so plain. |

Since you're in Aussie- the Civic- the Mirage is the biggest pile of crap imagineable- you'd be better off in a used Lancer than a damned Mirage- There is very little credit that I can give to the Mirage

i'd get a 95 mirage, cause they're the exact body style as a evo 4. the evo 4 didn't have flared fenders yet, so with a different hood, bumper, and wing, it would just identical to a evo 4.

 Sorry but the EVO 4 is based on the 4dr lancer, I don't know what planet your living on but the Mirage is, and always has been a 3dr hatch, the closest they ever got to an EVO model was the early Turbo AWD Mirage Cyborgs sold in Japan. Mirage's are notable for only 2 things, the early 80s models with the power/economy gear shift, basicly a second gear lever that worked an over drive on the gear box to give a taller top gear for better economy. It was famous for being a totaly useless gimick and a poor substitute for a proper 5sp gear box. And; the first Mirage Cyborg, sold only in Japan and I think the UK? in about 1990ish the car used 4g62 (1.8l DOHC Turbo) and AWD from the Lancer GSR tuned to about 200hp and crammed into the light weight Mirage body. The cars are very rare, used mostly as rally cars many have been lost to motorsports accidents, and all of the road cars Iv seen here have been in someway heavily modified. But an orginal one would be quite a find and one hell of an exciting car to own. If you need to know what the Civic is notable for then you need to learn a bit about automotive history. But start with it being the first mass produced Hatch back, and the car that defined the hatch back style, and finnish with it being the first small car to get 5/5 stars in the European safety standards. Then look at its sales success in every country its been lauched in and with every model made, and the emense range of models all sharing the same basic chassis, from the super economical 1200cc EB's to the God father of Hot Hatchs the EF9 SiR and its Evil Grandson the EK Type R, as well as all the models based on the same basic chassis design; including all the CRX variants, all the Integras, the TSX/Accord Euro, Early Preludes, and even the first City/fit. Any automotive journalist will tell you the Civic is the car all other Hatchs are measured by, it predates even the infamous VW golf, and despite the golfs hot hatch reputation for every year of the golf GTi's production there has been a faster version of the Civic avliable, from the early RS to the first Si, to the SiR to the Type R, and of course there is little that can rival the Civics furgal fuel consumption. The Mirage serves a prupose, it has a distintive style, especialy if you looking for something a little differnt, but unless you find an early cyborg they are very ordinary main stream cars, and are not reknown for thier hordes of automotive enthusiast fans. The Civic represents the bench mark for small Hatch backs, and offers a variety of models that every possible use and need is catered for. But of course, if your decieding what car to buy there is only so much advice you can take, and nothing at all will beat getting into a car and actualy driving it and seeing how it fits your particular style and needs. Its quite possible that the Civic model that you need is not sold in your country, or is at a price you can not afford, but the Mirage fills all your requirments, and of course vise-versa.
